Last night I noticed one girl with that dyed-red bob hair who seemed particularly attractive, but who never danced on stage (that I saw) and yet who was in a waiting room shot and who apparently was one of the 14 or so on Day 2 who made it through to Vegas. Very quick shots, never in a real segment... how is it possible for us to connect with anyone with this kind of editing? Very strange.
I had a similar observation last season when I just happened to notice Jeanine (#9850) very early on in a random shot, because of her particular good looks and brunette hair and thick eyebrows and thick lips. Otherwise, I'd never seen her dance until she made the top 20!
So who knows how this will all turn out.
I made the same remark to myself last night. It was like she'd been medicated. Didn't look great. Looked exhausted.
We probably missed Nigel. Adam's good, but no true substitute for the show-runner.
Echoes my thoughts.
I thought I'd read that a while back, but so far he's not appeared. Maybe he'll finally show up in next Tuesday's final audition show.
D, you were SPOT ON so many times last season -- especially with Jeanine (except you KEPT calling her #9850 LONG after it was necessary, lol).
I suspect they ARE "hiding" a lot of the REAL talent in the early auditions just so we won't see it all too soon. Frankly, I think that's a good way to run the program. I mean, think about it... They "profile" a lot of dancers -- personal interviews with Cat, and all -- who never even make it either past the initial audition or past choreography... I haven't kept count, but I'd say the ratio is probably roughly 1-1-1, with a third making it straight through, a third making it after choreography, and a third going home after one or the other... Maybe more like 6-3-3 now that I think about it, with about HALF of those who get the personal interviews not making it through.
As for Mary being more "sedate" and looking tired, consider that they actually did all these auditions DURING last summer's season of SYTYCD, so Mary and Nigel and whoever else were having to FLY to these audition cities during OFF days from the show, on TOP of whatever else they were doing (and neither of those two are "spring chickens" any more) I think I'd have been tired, too! I'm hoping Vegas Week is LIVE -- or at least done SINCE the season ended -- so they aren't so worn out.
Last, I have to take back some of my distaste for Adam Shankman after last night... He was A HOOT! And I also agree Li'l C has been MUCH more professional sounding than I've ever seen or heard him. I, too, wonder if someone took him aside and made him watch and listen to himself. (That's one thing I like about writing -- especially when you can edit, later -- a LOT easier to fix it when you say something ridiculous, lol!)
Last, I've really
hesitated to post this, since we seemed to move on from this "theme," but I just can't contain myself any more... I live a little less than 200 miles from Atlanta -- about a 3-hour drive with our 70 mph interstates here -- and when Cat started Tuesday's show by asking what the talent would be like in "the Dirty South" and wrinkled her nose like she did when she said that, OOOOWOOOOOOO -- All I can say is the NEXT time they do auditions that close, I'm going just to see Cat, lol.
