You don't know how many times I wished there was an icon here for that.

Or the Patrick Stewart one, where he's got his head down and his hand over his forehead.

Also, the "shaking head" one.

Or, for that matter, the one where the smiley's cheeks get puffy, start rumbling, and he turns to the side and lets out a huge gush of projectile vomit.

Imagine how much use all of those would get around here.

I'm thinking of the Stewart one - I've seen it quite a few times here just don't remember which thread. Lwright84's pic is funny.

Ah - I was confusing that with the smiley slapping his forehead.

I've seen the Patrick Stewart one actually made into a little, cartoonish icon on some sites. Wonder where they got that from?

Those facepalms are great and should somehow be in the thread title!

If any movie was due for a real remake it's Carrie. Bullying in high school has been a sizzzzzling hot topic the last few years. If handled correctly a remake could be an nice horrific reflection on society.

Unfortunately it will probably be like all the other meaningless remakes we've seen recently.

I changed the title so we can now find a face palm pic when needed. Thanks Lee.

From this excellent article: http://nymag.com/daily/entertainment..._hangover.html

"Kinberg is seeing this trend happen firsthand with two of his projects. He wrote the 2005 hit Mr. & Mrs. Smith, which the Fox-based mini-studio New Regency is in the process of rebooting without Mr. Pitt-Jolie or Mrs. Jolie-Pitt: After all, they would command 40 percent of the gross if they returned, assuming they weren’t already booked up through the year 2047. So Fox's idea is to spin it off as something called Mr. & Mrs. Jones — about another pair of married spies with an ampersand — and if it ever gets made, it will star far smaller, cheaper fish."

Great read if you have a moment.

Great read indeed... Though I'd rather have an A-list name with a big paycheck any day instead of CGI all over the place and cheap, useless 3D conversion... Look at the success of Fast Five, practical stunts, Vin Diesel and his gang (he may not be paid $30 million for a film, but all the names in the film combined probably amount to a fairly big number), non-stop action, and one of the coolest films of the year. That's apparently something people are still willing to pay for.

tx for the link btw.

It'll probably have some modern spin regarding LulzSec\\anonymous\\etc. And it'll somehow tie into a nuclear war with Iran or N. Korea.

Good news, Len Wiseman promises that the Total Recall remake will have a three-breasted female.

Also, for those interested in some info, here is a recap of the Total Recall presence at Comic con last week.

If there was no profanity filter, I would tell you all what I really think of Hollywood's obsession with raping my youth.

Remake poorly executed films that had the potential to be great, but were crippled by bad direction, bad acting, and bad writing.

Stop remaking/reimagining acclaimed and celebrated films of the past in the name of guaranteed box office based on past successes.

I was able to appreciate the films that were made 40 and 50 years before I was born (1962), and I didn't need to have them remade in order to appreciate them. What is wrong with the youth of today if they cannot relate to films that were made not even 30 years before they were born?

The problem is not that the films are dated. The problem is that the youth of the day are so self-absorbed that they can't appreciate anything that that didn't happen in the last week. What will these very same people say in 40 years when their grandchildren tell them what a fakey piece of crap the Lord of the Rings Trilogy was, and how boring it was?

I'm not some old fuddy duddy who needs to get with the times. The youth of today have to get with the history of cinema. That's what I did when I was their age. And Hollywood needs to stop catering to these misguided people by stopping this obsession with remakes and starting to let the young people of today make original films that speak to THEM.

There are many great contemporary films I can think of that are great IMO. Moon. Scott Pilgrim vs the World. The Social Network. Inception. and many, many more. We need more of these.

On the same day Ridley announces a new Blade Runner film, his brother Tony announces he is in talks to remake The Wild Bunch.

BR is Ridleys baby. But Tony Scott or anybody else for that matter, has any excuse for remaking TWB. The original is a near flawless masterpiece that doesn't need any current Hollywood hack going anywhere near it. Good Lord, the current movie establishment is such a bunch f**king shameless bastards. A pox on all of them.

Is nothing sacred in Hollywood anymore?

I don't care who directs it or who stars in it . . . it will fail when compared to the original.

Like trying to remake BULLITT.

Rumor is Brad Pitt in the lead and Wolfgang Peterson directing. But that rumor is from 2003.

20 films you probably didn't know were getting remade (over half were a shock to me!)

House Party? Oh snap! Gotta update those dance moves I guess. The Wild Bunch? More blood? Geez.

I find that near impossible with the amount shown in the original.

Exactly! That movie pushed the boundary for its time and still today. What's the point of a remake? I mean really....does The Wild Bunch have name recognition people are willing to spend $$$ on? That may be answered with the Straw Dogs redo. At least we can't blame the kids of today.
