Insignia NS-HDTUNE any good?

I can't really give a good review as I only had the NS-HDTUNE and didn't have it for very long. Controls were good, it tuned everything (but then, I had it hooked to the rooftop antenna). However, the unit I bought exhibited a noticeable shatter in the high frequency range, analog and digital, all stations. I'm guessing that's a bad amp, so I took it back. They didn't have a replacement and I've yet to get another one. That's not a reflection on the unit itself as much as it is my procrastination.

If they are close in price, take Sony. It is much better in quality. I have NS-HDTUNE, and I am not satisfied with both sound quality and sensitivity of this unit. But when I bought mine, it was much cheaper than Sony. Now Amazon has Sony for $86, go for it.

I recently purchased this tuner and so far I have been very pleased. I bought an open box from Best Buy for around $60. The sound using the coaxial digital out is great and the tuner locks onto the station and I am able to get all of the HD Radio Stations in my areas. Of course there is currently only one station broadcasting in HD Radio in my area.

I was thinking of picking one of these up used from Ebay and using it on my garage with a pair of indoor/outdoor speakers. Will that work with just speakers without an amplifier? Ironically, I will actually mainly use it for the analog FM function and I am anticipating that it is pretty sensitive on analog?

You're going to need an amp or amplified speakers.

This was $104.99 at my Best Buy today. Is that the original MSRP or is that a discount? I can't really seem to tell so far.

I think that's the original MSRP price. There's a review here that's dated about a year ago that mentions the price as being around $100. It appears to be manufactured by the same OEM that makes the Radio Shack AUVIO HD Tuner because the internals look similar.

well i can say that i just bought the insignia hd tuner for $30 off of craigslist and using my HDTV antenna and its working pretty good. I do notice sometimes it lose the hd feed but i do get the hd radio channels here in dallas, texas
