About to pull the the trigger (Bing has double cashback right now). I see they are shipping from a few sites, so please post your impressions, as well as your settings ( and pics if you are up for it).

Can someone explain the Bing cash back? I googled and got some info, but it looks like you have to enter into some type of contract with microsoft, I'm quite leery of doing that, especially with them! Is there any type of fee associated with signing up with them to get the cash back through Bing?

I received an email yesterday that my 58" V10 shipped. I'm hoping it arrives tomorrow. However, it will most likely be early next week.

anyone get theirs yet?

Please post a picture of your 58" V10 setup. I have only seen renders of this TV and really want to know what this set (especially bezel) looks like vs its smaller siblings.

I ordered one from Chris at Cleveland Plasma on the 14th. Hopefully it will be arriving this Friday

Anxiously awaiting my 58V10, they do not arrive in Canada until early September though so for now will have to make due by constantly refreshing this thread.

My 58" V10 arrived tonight. My heart sank when the Fed Ex guy opened the truck and I saw several large holes in the box. However, once we pulled it out of the truck and inspected it, it was fine...not even a scratch. Hooked it up and watched about 10 minutes of Journey in concert, then I started the break in slides. Great looking picture right out of the box. Pictures coming soon. Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks for the pictures and congratulations!

I want to trade my Samsung B650 (buzzzzzzzz) in for this set. Can you hear any buzzing in front of the set (from 9-10 ft back) with your head about dead center?
Put my ear right next to the front center and can't hear a buzz. Room is quiet. Only sound is a slight "whir" of the fans in the back, but you have to have your head right next to the vent to hear them. Otherwise, it's a very quiet TV.

Congrats Yubbie,
I ordered mine the other day. Used Bing (to answer an earlier question, it's free and all you need is a msn account). Patiently waiting!
Here is a silly question, since I have been out of the scene for sooo long, what are these break in slides? Thanks.
@mumum - You can search for break-in slides on the Panasonic V10 thread. You should. We should not have threads full of the same questions for the benefit of readers like you.

Basically, you run a series of slides from full white to red to green etc. For 120 hrs at the recommended settings. This helps break-in the phosphors and help them settle down. After some time, they are less likely to change as they do in their initial hrs of operation. So if you calibrate the set, the readings will not wander off. Plus, it does help mitigate burn-in. Not cure it. You should use an SD card and not a DVD player as the player could freeze on a given slide.

Hey Yubbie, Do you happen to have the ability to give us the actual weight and dimensions on the TV? Data sheets say it weighs about 160 lbs and I am wondering if it is really that heavy. Also, what is the dimension from the surface the base is on to the bottom of the screen.

Just trying to verify that it will fit in my space available and meet the WAF.

Thanks

Panasonic's website and the Owners manual say it weighs 114.7 lbs with the stand. Where are you seeing 160 lbs?
Thanks Audiotitis! will be focusing on catching up on these threads for calibration and break in tips. I am exhausted after all the catch up reading I did over the past bit to come around buying the 58v10
post #22 of 1246
I think the 160 pounds is the packaging shipped weight (with the box ect). If I remember correctly, the weight without the stand is 110

Those dimensions look correct. I did measure the width last night and it is 58" wide. It's definitely not 160 pounds in or out of the box.

Sanlanman, I'll measure from the bottom of the base to the bottom of the screen when I get home from work today.

Yubbie, I'm thinking of buying this TV. Just wondering, was the stand attached out of the box or did you have to mount it?
Thanks
You have to mount the TV on the stand. The stand is a plastic base that requires some assembly (about 3 minutes worth of work). Essentially, you take two steel posts (approx. 6" long) and screw them to the base with two screws each. The TV then must be lifted and placed on top of the two posts until it is resting on the stand. Then you secure the TV to the posts using four more screws.

It's a very easy straight forward process, but it does require two people to put the TV on the stand.

Randy and Jim, It says 160.1 lbs on the Cleveland Plasma web page for this TVwithout regard to what that weight means, boxed, unboxed, etc. That sounded heavy and that's why I asked. Thanks for the data Jim, and thanks in advance to Yubbie for measuring the clearance from deck to bottom of the screen panel.
