I've got it back hooked up and its working fine (for now). Really hating how I have to go through and re-do the settings and re-calibrate every single time. Between taking it in, picking it up, and setting it up, I've probably wasted at least 8 hours on this unit. Technically my warranty expires on 3/26/2012, but I get another 90 days of warranty coverage according to Onkyo from the date of the last repair. If it goes again in the next 90 days, I'll be hammering them for a replacement unit.
And my 807 just died for the third time in less than 4 months last night. Same issue - No speaker icons, grayed out Network, etc. I noticed 2 nights ago that the usual click clack noise when you switch inputs was significantly muted and then last night, no click clack at all and no sound. Technically my warranty has expired by a month, but as its less than 90 days since the last "repair", I went ahead and called Onkyo Customer Service this morning and confirmed it failed for the 3rd time and they're going to send out a shipping label for me to send the unit back and upon receipt, they'll send a replacement unit back out to me. I didn't have to escalate, etc. this time which was nice.
I'm not happy about having to go 2 weeks with no receiver, but I'm hoping they send me a back an 809 (or anything other than another 807 as this model is clearly a lemon). Its very strange that I had zero issues for 21 months with this unit and then had the same HDMI board failure / no sound issue happen 3 times in the span of 4 months. Makes me wonder if there's something in the actual receiver which is causing the HDMI board to fail and not the HDMI board itself.
Regardless, I'll post once I get the replacement unit.
