Power Hour: Newest $1 game worth checking out

We used to do the power hour in college. Basically you take a shot of beer every minute for an hour. We had a tape that switched the music every 60 seconds for when you were too bladowed to look at a clock. This great Indie game called Power Hour uses your hard drive music and automatically randoms your music and cuts in new songs every 60 seconds. It calculates just how high your blood alchohol level is (that fluctuates of course depending on what type of booze you've had) and keeps track of how many beers you've drank over the course of an hour. As a matter of fact, a beer mug is onscreen and it goes down which is kind of cool. I think it works out to like 8 or 9 beers if I'm not mistaken. So there you have it. If you're in college, this will be one of the best dollars you can spend. The power hour is no joke! I just wonder if this is online compatible. An AVS power hour would be outrageous!

seems like an indie title MS wouldn't like in it's roster, especially since indie games are unrated by the ESRB.

Thanks for taking a look guys! I'm the lead developer on the game.

This is intended to be a simple drinking game just as the top of the thread says.

I'm interested in any/all feedback you guys might have. I will be updating the application in the future with feedback from users.

Here's my thank you (3 free download codes-please let me know if you use one so I can mark it off)

FJ6M3-2CKXX-P7GVD-MQCBB-R9CC8(USED)
HJVGC-HV9YG-T48CV-Q26MM-PWF26(USED)
GHY8M-YXCHH-B7XJM-8YM7D-9HJP3(USED)

Update: They are all gone (for now). If the game is popular enough, there is a chance I'll come back and post more codes soon!

Regards,
- Greg

Thanks Power Hour guy!

I used the first code - FJ6M3-2CKXX-P7GVD-MQCBB-R9CC8
Ill give the game a shot with my brother or wife. Do you enter weight/height to help estimate BAC more accurately?

Sadly, that feature didn't make it into the game yet.

It estimates the BAC based on a 120lb female and 160lb male. (This is on the lower end of estimates on purpose as to not underestimate BAC)

The future release of the game will have the option to enter height, weight, and age in order to make the estimation more accurate.

If you have previously purchased the game, the update will be pushed to you automatically.

Thanks for taking a look. I hope you enjoy!

heh I actually made a power hour music video compilation on commission last year. It was for a someone's girlfriend who like 80's music so I picked some of the weirdest oddest and most prolific 80's videos I could.

I've actually done something very similar. Over the past few years, I've made 3 versions of the DVD. The first was just 60 scenes from many different comedies. The second was just a newer version with full resolution video. The third and most recent version does 60 random scenes from a total 100. This way, the DVD is different every time! I wanted to do something like this for the Xbox 360, but I was not sure how copyrights and other laws play into using minute long clips from movies... If anyone knows, I would love to add this to the next version!

well you'd need permission from every studio you'd be taking footage from. There is the public domain and I'd imagine some sort of power hour DVD could work with the stuff that's available. Other than that you could shoot your own stuff. some film makers do make open source B-roll meterial for use, you'd need permission but those guys are way easier to deal with that movie studios. You coudl do something wacky like, "Cute dogs wearing hats with a wide angle lens POWER HOUR DVD!"

hey greg, can you recommend a type of beer for this activity? Generally Busch light was what we used. Anything real cheap and watery

Funny idea for a game. Sounds like a lawsuit waiting to happen. Good luck!

Greg, if you can make this online compatible, you could easily charge 2 bucks for it. And the live camera would be hilarious too.

Come on, guys. Keep the drinking games off the forum.
