I installed the Beta patch .... and magic, bitstreaming .. and bitstreamin does make a big diff with a system and speakers that can can provide all the audio data.

I fought the Bitstreaming Asus card for months, blue screens whatever all the time, now it just works

Good Luck!

Headless automated ripping on WHS (with fuill donation. whats $100, after what we have into the machines), pretty cool interface, perfect, no, great yes.

Just drop a BR into the WHS, it rips, metaData and in your catalog, turn on display, click on it and it plays.

Another month and the Ceton tuner (if it works as advertised) and a HTPC will be a real machine. Goodbye to multiple boxes

Thanks man! I think I may give it a god tomorrow. The wife is watching American Idol... she wouldn't be happy with me messing with the TV right now

What version of the Intel Graphics driver are you running? Also, just curious, have you messed with watching standard DVDs in TMT3? Are you having issues with the graphic accelerator setting?

It sounds like I'm in the same boat as you, utee05. I can't get hd audio working with asrock h55m pro. I am using graphics driver that came with mobo because all the intel drivers give me no audio over hdmi.
I have an Onkyo 606.

I have 3TB so far, saving for another 2TB green drive. I have not figured out a way that I can convert to one file with HD audio and be able to transcode it to extenders anyway. I just figured I would rip a copy of the DVD of the same movie to DVR-MS and put it in the folder with whatever I am converting the BR to. Maybe a compressed version of the BR, not sure.

I am already $50 in anyway, which is all you need to be able to rip to the server. If you want to rip 4 at a time you need to be up to the $100 level. Not sure if my EX470 could handle 4 BR at a time nor am I going to buy 3 more BR drives for it but I have a ton of DVDs and an extra DVD drive sitting around. I have been having decent luck ripping DVDs to MPG with MM and then transferring to the PC and converting to DVR-MS with videoredo. I have an extra Thermaltake HDD dock on the way. I am going to try mass ripping on the server to the external drive, transferring the drive to the PC and batch converting to DVR-MS while more are ripping to MPG on the server. There will be a number that won't work correctly (2Ch instead of 5Ch) so i will need to find a quick way to check them out and make a stack to process manually.

If I have sold anyone on My Movies tell binnerup to comp me some donation points .

Try VC-1 decoders:

- ffdshow libavcodec, wmv9
- MPC Video Decoder = ffdshow DXVA Video Decoder
- WMVideo Decoder DMO (included in Windows)
- CyberLink Video Decoder (PDVD 9/10) with a loader
- ArcSoft Video Decoder (TMT3) (how to use it)
- Intel Media SDK VC-1 Decoder

It looks like there is no definitive VC-1 decoder.

Try to enable "Uncompressed" formats in ffdshow audio decoder configuration > Codecs. It's definitely a filter issue in your system. If "Uncompressed" is disabled, ffdshow won't connect to the internal Matroska splitter or Haali. With Haali, it directly connect to DirectSound audio device; so it you select "stereo" (resp. 5.1, 7.1) in speaker configuration, you will get stereo (resp. 5.1, 7.1).

Update: Latest news from Amazon, delivery date of 2/25. "We are preparing these items for shipment and this portion of your order cannot be canceled or changed.". So NewEgg is pretty much a non-option now anyway.

Mmmm, this should be interesting. So Damian, first one with a post and photo? I'll go a beer on it, and will ship if I lose....

Damian,
Ooh, ooh, shipped last night and currently on a UPS truck for delivery today.

And I'm happy to buy you a beer (or two, or...) regardless, based on all the knowledge and advice you hand out here and over at at the MSS website. Drop me a PM....

I installed the drivers on the disc that came with the mobo and everything is working now. I hope ASRock updates their drives to match up with the latest intel release. Maybe I should've gone with the intel mobo if I knew this was going to be an issue.

Any reports on the Zotac board yet? Or, are we still waiting for shipments to arrive?
I am lookin at buying one of these, but want to hear user reviews first. Thanks to all that took the chance and bought early!

All of the asus boards are still on the 1995 version as well. I have not had any problems getting audio with any drivers do my denon AVR1909 though.

If you just read the last few pages of the thread you will see that at least one person has it and has posted a thread on it. One more person has it out for delivery today.

Utee, I'm running with the ASRock H55M Pro -> Onkyo 805 via HDMI and audio is streaming fine with the latest intel 2057 drivers. I'm not doing any bitstreaming of HighDef audio, but Live TV and Windows sounds work fine.

I am, however, having problems with it being too bright... Still can't figure that one out. I have to lower the brightness on my TV to make black black instead of dark grey, but then I'm crushing the blacks. Ugh.

Are you running a homebrew WHS or a 'store-bought'? I've got an HP EX490 (with a souped-up CPU), the idea of doing headless ripping is rather appealing. I already have TMT3 and MyMovies running on the server and all the clients, just curious if interfacing a BD-R drive is feasible on the 490. Currently ripping everything on my desktop box upstairs (has the most horsepower) and saving the ISO rips to the 490. Considering putting a BD-R in my soon to come Zotac H55 build, but the server route seems intriguing....

I am not worthy, I am not worthy!

Are you going to keep your chatter here and in Lawguy's thread, or take some over to MSS.net? This thing could be too good not to share.

And I'm serious about the brewski, drop a PM and I'll send you a few good Texas microbrews....

where are you getting these drivers? If you try to download the HD Graphics drivers from Intel's site the version number is 2021. The 2057 drivers look to be tied to an Intel board. I am hesitant to install board drivers for fear there will be something else installed that I don't need/want or something that will cause problems down the road.

Is there a standalone link you can provide?

The link I use is here.

I am ripping to my EX470 with the stock CPU. Just pick up something like this and make sure you have enough donation points (1250 I think) on my movies. That is what the disc copier program on the server is for.

Who says the chatter can't happen at both places

Thanks for the info. I've got eSATA port on the EX490, so I'll probably go that route rather than USB. Might be a good time to get a four drive eSATA enclosure, one slot for the BD and the other three for future storage expansion.

I need to get busy building up some MM points, I've got about a dozen obscure titles that aren't currently in the database....

You'll have to be ambidextrous, typing on two keyboards at once. I don't see how you keep up with it as it is....

You are exactly right. The 2057 drivers don't show up in the list unless you filter the search by Intel mobos.

I just rolled back my driver from 2057 to 1995 (which came with my Asus install disc). And then I updated to the Intel recommended 2021.

I was having some issues with the video driver and the display audio driver crashing WMC. I only made the changes last night, but so far so good and I'm monitoring it closely.

It might just be my imagination, but the 2057 drivers seem quite a bit brighter than the 2021 drivers. I had to adjust my display. I can't tell a difference between the 1995 and 2021 drivers - except that the 1995 drivers seemed to sputter a bit when watching live TV.

I found that too and figured it wouldn't be a problem as the GPU is constant no matter what board you're using. I just used the ones found here

I've tried the 1995, 2021, and the 2057 drivers. The video portion works fine for me, it's the Intel Display Audio that I am having a problem with. I have a GIGABYTE GA-H55M-S2H currently and just ordered an ASUS P7H55-M PRO board. I'm hoping my audio problems are board related. I will get the board and be able to test it by the end of this weekend.

Can someone answer a few questions for me. I've been reading these forums for some time and see all kinds of setups. I prefer the simpliest/out of the box solutions myself.

When Win 7 was first introduced, I knew right away that MC was going to bring HTPCs closer to mainstream. I have also spent a bunch of time converting my DVDs and Blurays to digital.

For my DVDs I use AnyDVD and create ISOs that I then batch convert using handbrake into M4Vs. I only get 2 channel audio here and the video is still pretty good. A standard DVD is about 1GB after I convert. Since I have kids, it's more important to get quantity on the media server vs. quality. No need to actually have Shrek in 5.1. Now, something like Star Wars, I would like to get all the audio out of it.

For my Blurays, I use AnyDVD and create ISOs. I then use VirtualCloneDrive and MediaBrowser to mount/unmount the ISOs. This way I get all the audio and video quality of the original Bluray. I only buy Blurays that I feel are "sound worthy"...meaning you won't find Juno or Knocked Up in my collection.

I do all this without installing any other playback software except Bluray playback (TMT3). I don't install any codecs or filter packs. I play everything through WMC using my Harmony Remote. Using a keyboard turns the TV into a monitor. For my wife to "buy in" it needs to feel like a DVR.

Can some of you tell me what you get/lose by installing MPC (or other playback software) with a bunch of filters/codecs? Is it so you dont have to spend money on bluray playback software? I would love to compress my DVDs but still get all the audio out of a few of them if possible.

There is probably a better thread for this but I see so many people in this thread talking about MPC/codes/filter packs/configs etc. Just wondering what I am missing. Thanks in advance!

OK, good question.

Personally it's an hobbie for me; i've been investigating bitperfect streaming for a year and bitstreaming over HTPC for some months. (you may find some of my threads here as well)

BTW i have all legal versions of those SW:

Corel WDVD,
TMT,
PDVD...

Normally they are commercial SW and you have to pay for them.

So they must obey the rules of SW/HW bigbrothers for sure.

Even you crack your own BDs with AnyDVD-HD, you need to make funny fake discs (ISOs) to listen the real audio.

MPC-HC with its internal filters (you don't need any external filter except if you are not a Xonar owner _just one audio renderer filter needed btw) can play all of your decrypted BD discs from the file directly. So yo never have to make fake BDs at all.

And MPC-HC might be your default player in MC.

And MPC-HC is free btw.

Hope it giives an idea.
