My new SVS PB10 on the left of media cabinet, the Bic H-100 on the right.

I also mounted a 22" Samsung lcd on the wall to use as a secondat display so I wouldnt have to fire up the PJ to do small stuff like program the DVR, use the 360 to stream music and let the kids watch cartoons. Eventually i will mount a single inwall speaker under the lcd for sound for the kids cartoons. its weird having the sound come from the main speakers to the left/behind you.

Also plan to paint that white wall in the next week or so. something darker, a few shades lighter then the brown of the rest of the room.

While it pains me to say this... that looks good.

I'm the one taking the picture. I don't know who that fat dude is.

I wouldn't think of bringing up the framing.... especially when there's that gap in the trim.

Pretty sure that's the IKEA one that everyone does the mods with.

Is it just the pic, or does it look like its bowing in the picture? If it is, perhaps supporting it in the middle would be a good idea. My stand actually came witha support in the center that moves up and down to adjust height to get a giid support in the center.

I saw the same thing and was just getting ready to say something and I saw you beat me to it.

50" Elite with a 106" projector screen above it.

That is a HUGE rack for a family room. Looks like a powerful system.
Have you ever considered a motorized pull down screen?

I'm glad to see this thread, i was starting to think that nobody on here had "normal" set ups at all.

Here are some pictures of my living room. Using an epson 6500 on a 125" Wilsonart DW screen.

My first attempt at a home theater...not really light controlled other than some blackout curtains on the windows, but the epson puts out enough light to still watch it during the day. I use it for 100% of all tv/movie/gaming. I got my first projector at the end of January and have turned it into this since then.

My DIY 18" Maelstrom 2xPR sub (my wife actually made the cabinet that holds all the components...it was her first time making something so I'm using it)

Here's my living room, it's almost complete. I didn't want the TV to take over the space, but I still wanted to enjoy good audio/video. Ottomans for the two chairs flanking the TV slide under the coffee table. I like putting my feet up, and most people don't have that option for all their chairs when they entertain. I made sure everyone can put their feet up. I replaced both mini-blinds from the builder with double cell, light filtering honeycomb cellular shades, both with the top down/bottom up feature. The paint is a dark olive color (low VC), it's not a green as it appears in the pics but I'm not an expert at tweaking my camera's settings.

Still not complete: Art on the walls and lighting, the table lamp on the mantle is temporary.

Samsung 40" LCD TV
B&W DM601 speakers
Panasonic XR-55s Receiver (using optical out from TV for 2.0 stereo)
HDMI distribution from HT on opposite wall:
Comcast 250GB HD-DVR
Samsung Blu-Ray Player
Toshiba HD-A3 HD DVD Player
Hot-Link Pro for remote signals

HTtom,

Nice equipment, much better than mine.

But if that is your living room, something tells me that you are not married - correct?

Here you go...150" 16:9 used mostly for nightly HDTV, occasional movies, and of course sports.

Hey,
Here is my humble all purpose room with a little A/V action.
We just bought an unfinished basement ( with the house attached to it) and will be joining and coming for advice from the build crowd soon.

Here is my multi-purpose room. It's not done yet - this week I'm getting a curtain behind the TV that runs the length of the room to block out the window. i also still need light fixtures, to hang pictures, get my 7.1 surround speakers mounted, change the ceiling fan, and a few other things.

Books, DVDs, videogames and a Manu Ginobili McFarlane:

This is the livingroom. The surround receiver, HTPC, HD tuner, etc. are all housed in the black box sandwiched between the couch and the wall.

The basement has the dedicated theater.

This is my non dedicated HT/living room, some of the components are a bit dated, but....

Samsung LN52A650
Klipsch Synergy SC-1
Oppo 970HD
Wii
Onkyo Integra DTR 5.1 (no HDMI...)
Scientific Alanta 8300HD
APC H15-blk
Klipsch Synergy Speakers (Towers SF-1/Surrounds SS-1)
Definative Technologies Powered Sub
Polk Atrium 45 Speakers (outdoor)
Wall Furnature: OmniMount MWFS & MWF8
Logitech Harmony 550

...Its not the be all end all, but I worked with what I had (house and componets ), my biggest item, and prob the TOUGHEST & MOST frustrating was cable & wire concealment since nothing is tucked away in the walls, but the OmniMount was able to fit the miles of cabling behind it...lol (I have one spot to still do behind the couch & the little bit of the huge APC electrical cord, but not a biggie with another couple of pieces of raceway painted up).

Darken the room manually via the shades & closing the door (with the shades completely open and door closed there is no glare on the LN52A650 whatsoever even though its right next to a bay window with lots of light)...

My biggest drawback was rear channel placement, I didnt have much for options, but this works for the loveseat and the chase lounge just fine for now:

Couch to TV is about 11.5 feet... Im enjoying the setup overall

IHaveAMullet - Really like the way your overall setup looks, very nice job.... really clean as well....

Suntan, no cables anywhere either, nice.

Do both of you have the cables/wires in the wall? I dont even see any raceways to hide them...

ErictheMidget - Just noticed you have the same loveseat, in the same color.... Great minds think alike

Very nice set up.

Looking at those family photos on the shelf I'm sure I've seen your family often on TV ... all those undercover shows where they blot out the interviewee's faces to protect the innocent!

Curses... You figured us out, BUT you thought we were innocent.... BWAHHHA HAAHHAAA!

Thanks much.... after reading through these different forums, I was under the dilusion that the basement bar that came with our house would suffice (really it was just a quick put together job by the previous owner, the paneling like Nothing you or I have ever seen before, but LOTS of space under the bar for all diff liquor, homemade and regular, and does get the job done, but thats about it), last night I realized I need to, at a min do something with the bar top, but as of this morning, I believe I know what needs to be done...... and I curse this place for the seed this monster of a site has planted in my, and most likely every readers head.....

...my next mission with most likely be to tear down two walls around the existing bar, pull out an old oil tank, resize the kids playroom some, add a small office and redo the bar completely shifting its location, but overall making it a bit bigger (we need an office, so might as well kill two birds....) sigh, now I need to get the disapproval from the better half (at least until both bathrooms and the kitchen has been remodeled hopefully next year).

How big is your room and screen wall? Also, what is your viewing distance?
