Yup, visible wires gives it a rather Busch League appearance imo. Gotta hide them any way you can.

For the plasma, I added an outlet behind it to power it, and ran two runs of video up through the wall (The basement was unfinished at the time so running them up wasn't too bad.) then looped them over down in the basement area and ran them back up to go into the media box next to the couch.

The speaker wire was pushed between the baseboard and the carpet (you can usually hide quite a bit of wire in there depending on how tightly your carpet was installed) they come out right behind each speaker and this short run is just pushed in/buried into the carpet between the baseboard and the speaker so they are not seen from the room.

Nice Setup, but was wondering how is the sound imaging on that seat right near the speaker? I'm trying to figure out my seating arrangement right now and trying to figure out the best way to seat people haha

Very nice.

I especially like the part about you and the missus each having your own living rooms.

Just put this together in the past couple of weeks. It's got a Panasonic AX200U projector, projecting onto an 86" homemade screen (painted wood with felt border - got tons of great info from the DIY forum).

Also has a PS3, X-Box Media Center, Over-the-Air HDTV tuner, and Pioneer 5.1 HDMI receiver. The rears and main speakers are boston acoustic bookshelf-type, with Mirage sub & center. bizarre combo which sounds pretty nice.

Forgive the mess (those are controller wires, the system wires go under the blue rug)

And in keeping with the the original request - I do nothing for blackout. the combination of really bright projector and dark grey screen makes daytime viewing pretty good, especially for bright football games. I put the screen where it is because of the fact that there is little direct light from outside onto that wall. if I pull a couple of corner shades, that's usually enough for daytime viewing. I was planning on restricting movie-action to the night time - but as the winter hits, I may think about blackout shades...

Thanks!
Mike

Well, it isn't perfect by any means...but, the tweeter/horn and top woofer clear the couch and have a direct line of sight to my seat. The other "people" in the room just have to deal with it.

I think most living room setups have significant compromises anyway. Those Klipsch RF62's were a huge improvement over the tiny Sony HTIB speakers they replaced.

Thanks for the feedback, have you had any complaints? I just wasn't sure if it got too loud for the person sitting there or if there seating position blocked your listening position.

Ah...well, normally nobody sits in that seat. It is only about 4 ft from the screen. Behind the camera position is our kitchen with a center island w/bar stools, and another four chairs around a breakfast nook table.

I like your setup. What is the height from the ground to the bottom edge of the frame of the screen. I got a 92" carada that I want to upgrade to 114 or 118". What is the size of your room?

Hey Tracting--How do you like that EMOTIVA Amp? I've been on the fence about ordering them for the last couple weeks. Did you notice a difference in sound quality?

Thanks - the sub sits between the right channel and the couch, aimed away from the wall. Essentially it's like an end table that we put blankets on.

All electronics are in the right side cabinet controlled by an IR repeater.
In wall Polk speakers and Paradigm sub hidden behind the couch...went for the stealth look since this room is open to the kitchen. I'm in the process of building a dedicated 100" theater in the basement using alot of the great info from this forum.

Since this pic was taken I've removed the mirror frame over the Samsung plasma (too much reflection....even at night).

Here is mine. It is still under construction. I have a screen but projector won't be installed until the end of the month. I use the 42" for news and Sportscenter and the projector will be used for movies and hdtv shows/sports. When we have company we can move the chair and loveseat up to the diningroom area which is raised 8inches because our livingroom is sunken. 95% of the time though we only need the one couch. The ceiling with the fireplace goes up about 20ft and is cedar so it absorbs the light very well. The valence still needs to be stained and trimmed out.

Of course it's not what i'd LIKE it to be (a dedicated home theatre), but it's pretty good for a living room and a bedroom!

More please! I'm currently in the middle of creating my living room theater and need ideas.

There is another one that I want mine to look like, nicely done. The only thing I want is to hide all components behind a cloth speaker grill.

Thanks for some reference pics!

Not much, but for a poor post-college kid working 45+ hours in retail a week, it suffices :-)

Nice sofas set? I almost thinking of getting the same thing.
Does the 2400 includes the cabinet. They wanted over 3K at the place I look at

Thanks, guys! I'm definitely happy with everything (condo and HT). It was one of the first places I looked at when I started looking, and definitely had the most "wow factor" of any place I found.
