But the POINT is... it's turning out that the VAST majority of people are not just satisfied with the transfer, they are thrilled with the transfer!
So tell me Mark what do you think of the Gladiator Blu Ray. Forget the reviews and tell me your opinion ?
Van you are spot on with your assessment. You could have put an old worn VHS copy on a Blu Ray and released it and some people would have been applauding the image quality. Thats why i left AV Forums in the UK but i will say no more as it's forbidden to say anything about another site.
It seems some people can't spot edge enhancement even when the halo's are an inch thick. Maybe it's because they have their television sharpness set high and are so used to halo's that it's not a 10/10 unless the film comes with some halo's. Who knows why some people miss these things but are you really telling me you agree with the people saying this is 10/10 and a perfect transfer.
We have reviews from Whiggles and our very own Ralph Potts who is the official AVS reviewer saying this disc has issues. The UK one is said to be the same transfer.
Who is right. The reviewers you bring up or the reviewers i just brought up.
Don't answer it's not a real question as Whiggles and Ralph Potts have keen eyes and they are right.
So the vast majority of people are happy with this release. I suspect this will give studio's like Paramount the greenlight to release more transfers like this. Forrest Gump will be next or maybe the Star Trek next generation films will have the honor of being next in line for the hatchet job.
The vast majority of people are happy with MP3 tracks downloaded off the internet. I can't stand the thin sound when played through a decent system.
My final point is why not please EVERYONE and just do the transfer right without edge enhancement and without additional processing and oh yah make a new master which will last many years and ensure top knotch quality. Please the people with 100+ inch screens and you will be guaranteed to please the people with 32 inch screens as well.
I don't even know why we are still discussing this. You think quoting reviews from people who have opticians appointments coming up will actually win you an argument or something ?
