What should I try?
That's about half way thru in low lamp...mine is about 1400 hrs and going strong. I hope the bulb does not die on me that fast. Though I have been very carefull to preserve lamp life; use it 2-4 hrs at a time, just one start and stop per night, mostly used to watch movies, have it connected to a UPS to avoid sudden shutoff w/o lamp cooling, etc...
I have not heard many bulb issues in this forum that I recall for the 6800. Have you used it mostly on low lamp? Whas is your usage pattern?
Although the lamp is out of warranty, have you tried contact Mitsu? It may be worthless, but don't loose anything by trying....
