I have this unit for 8 days and noticed that some menu items in advanced picture settings are missing from the tv. Those are Wide color and Live color. Any help with this appreciated. Sony tech support dont have an idea where did they go and have promised to call me back with a resolution.
See page 154 on the web Instruction manual for detals.
Thanks

If you mean by Wide Color Gamut, that's just the standard CCFL which provides a broader color spectrum I believe. No option for that.

Live color... there's no sources that use this feature (i think!). So you wouldn't even need it at all.

It is a part of the advanced menu settings and it is in print in the manual. Nevertheless, it does not show up on the advanced setting menu.

Sometimes those options are available on certain sources/sometimes they may just be grayed out altogether. Did u check all the advanced settings options for any sub-settings?

Check to see anything like... "x.v.Color"

EDIT: I just searched it online and here's a difference between the Z and XBR9 (http://www.presentationtek.com/2009/...g-hdtv-review/)

Differences Z5100 vs XBR9

* Finnish (surface color) Black vs Blue Metallic Gray
* No PhotoTV HD
* No Live Color Creation Technology
* No xv Color Technology
* Twin speakers vs Speaker Box + Tweeter
* No Audio Out (rear)

Not sure what's right or wrong, but I was sure it had live color... Perhaps because the Z5100 doesn't have Wide Color Gamut? But honestly, you will HARDLY HARDLY notice any difference with both of them on. It's not something to not live without. It's just an incentive

I understand the difference between two. Buy Wide color and Live color is apart of the menu option that is not vailable, but is a part of the manual. You can read it on line. All submenus dont have anything close to it. If Sony answer me I will let you know.

If you understand the difference, then you should understand that those options aren't available because the Z5100 does not have it and....:

1) you're most likely referring to "Wide Color Gamut - CCFL". There will be no option for that.

2) Live Color aka "x.v.Color"/"xvYCC", works together with the Wide Color Gamut-CCFL (backlit) as well as Sony's BE3 Engine to capture a wider range of colors. I'm even confused between Live Color Creation and x.v.Color because they pretty much work the same way. There will be options for them "on/off"...

I just checked the Z5100's manual and don't see anything that mentioned Wide Color and Live Color Creation, can you tell me where?

Wow I never heard of such 'wide color' option before. But considering that the "Z5100" does not have Live Color (correct me if I'm wrong) then that means there can't be the 'wide color' option as well.

Did you ask in the official Z5100 thread?
