Aaaaargh. I have an older Sony XBR hi-def TV which I have been using with a cablecard until now. Comcast has been adding/removing/moving so many channels recently that I decided to switch the cablecard (which doesn't have a decent channel guide) for a STB. Figured the switch would be easy as pie. Boy - was I wrong. Took the box home from our Comcast office - plugged it in using an HDMI cable - and got nothing but fuzz - no signal. After an hour long call to Comcast (reps had never heard of the box I got) - still have nothing but fuzz.
This STB is a brand new RNG 110 (made by Samsung I think) - supposedly the latest and greatest in our area. Now my TV isn't the latest and greatest (it does have hi-def and a single HDMI input - but it is probably at least 5 years old and all that entails) - so I read the online manual for the STB to trouble-shoot compatability problems. The manual was clear as mud (like it didn't say whether I should do this that or the other thing when the TV was on or off). Or perhaps stand on my head when I was trying to make the adjustments.
Of course - Comcast can't get anyone to my house at a time when I'll be around until Friday. In the meantime - any thoughts/suggestions/advice would be appreciated. Robyn
