Mitsubishi HD1000U for CIH ?

Hi

I'm not sure if this is the correct place to post this so please move it if it is.

I own a barely used Mitsubishi HD1000U projector.
I am wanting to know if any one has used a HD1000U for CIH ?

I'm currently using a 120" 16:9 screen but want to switch it out for a SmX ProCurv 2.35:1 Screen and would like to use my hd1000u.

Is it possible to use this projector for 2.35:1 ?

Thanks

Do you plan to zoom or use a lens?

If zoom, a curved screen will cause barrel distortion and your better off going with a flat screen. Also does the projector offer power zoom and focus as having to do this things manually each time when switching between 16:9 and 2:35 will get tiresome.

If you plan to use a lens a curved screen will be fine. Use Bob's curve screen calculator (Sticky up above) to determine how much of a curve you will need. Secondly does the projector offer vertical stretch which will eliminate the black bars that you will get with 2:35-2:40 movies? Some projectors will do this for standard definition but not high def, so be sure to test it with a HD source. If not then you will need an external piece of equipment to do so i.e. a scaler or HTPC, or some receivers offer this as well now.

Thanks for the reply

The down fall of this projector is has no adjustments while in HDMI mode.
I could run component input and use a external scaler in between the source and the projector.
I'm thinking maybe this is a waist of time with this projector and may need to upgrade.
