I am struggling with getting the third DL4 light to come on the player

My AVP shows Denon Link but the audio shows Dolby: the DBP shows DTS MA (Public Enemy BD)

any ideas?

in re the web GUI update: here is the response from Jeff:

Mark,

The web control and remote access firmware is delayed until March, we will post this on our site as it was to be done this month.

Best Regards,

Jeff

You're talking about the "Clock Control" blue light... right?
I'm having the same issue, I can't get it to come on either.
I'm using both HDMI and DenonLink4.
In the manual it states "lights when playing BD with DenonLink4"
Not sure what's going on but if you find out let me know please.

another member was kind enough to provide me some more info: I will try this tonight

From the Audioholics review of the A1....http://www.audioholics.com/reviews/t...-a1udci-config

* Enable HDMI control on both the AVP-A1HDCI and DVD-A1UDCI.
* Turn Denon Link off on the DVD-A1UDCI. (This has to be off to change settings for HDMI.)
* Set HDMI Audio to auto on the DVD-A1UDCI
* Turn Denon Link 4th on in the DVD-A1UDCI
* Set HDMI Mode to HDMI Dual (Auto) on the DVD-A1UDCI
* Assign Denon Link to the appropriate source on the AVP-A1HDCI
* Set the Input Mode to Auto on the AVP-A1HDCI

Hey Mark,
That did the trick, (I have all three blue lights) thanks.
I'm pretty sure I had all three lights when I first fired up the 4010.
Somewhere along the line I changed a setting that it didn't like and lost the "Clock Control" light. Not sure what the HDMI Control settings should have to do with the clock control

no luck here: called Denon support and they say all my settings are correct: will call me back

now my AVP is looking for a fw update and the update fails: stuck in a continuous cycle of retrying failed update: wired ethernet

this happened once before and I had to do a master reset which wiped all my settings

frustrated

Try powering the unit off via the small front panel power button.
That sometimes does the trick.

as mentioned earlier in this thread and in the denon avp thread. the 3rd light for clock control on blu-ray I have not been able to engage either for the 4010. my dealer is investigating wiht the local distributor/importer support people.

please keep in mind though the above procedures might work with a dvd-a1 it is not necessarily a goer for the 4010. well nothing has been for me.

also keep in mind where it works for dream catcher I think he has a 4810 not and not running a denon avp as we are.

I suspect the issue is infact with the denon avp. and although mine if fully upto date I think something denon needs to work on to enable - in a fuss free fashion. without having to stand tippy toe on one leg and touching your nose wiht one hand while trying to change setting on the player and avp with the other

the point of note is that I am yet to see any denon avp owner to have clock control for blu-ray enabled with a denon 4010.

to me the clock control on blu-ray is not a bigee, its not why I bought the player. and happy denon link and hdmi works for all sources otherwise. but for completeness woudl like to see the claimed functions implemented. more for curiousity sake for me ! if nothing else

Have you tried this:
Turn off the master power (small power button that goes in and out).
Open the front panel. press and hold the up and down buttons that flank the enter button.
While holding those buttons, turn on the master power.

This will terminate the update process. If your firmware has not been overwritten with trash then your unit should work fine.

I was finally able to get the update to go through by disconnecting other connected ethernet devices

Denon has a 4010 that techs use for support: they promised to call me back and try it with me in real time

If I can't get the clock light to work I will return the unit

Talk about frustrating. Didn't you have the same problem with your DVD-A1? I may sit the 4010 out.

yes I did: I had hoped the issue would have been resolved by now though [I had used both HDMI outs before that was discovered as part of the problem]

I will give it a few more days to see if Denon customer support can help: they are pretty savvy and anxious to help

I feel for ya. I know what a PITA it is to get a new component and not have it do what it's supposed to. I'm hoping Denon support will be able to resolve this problem quickly. Keep us posted.

Denon has offered to come to my house on Monday afternoon with their 4010 to resolve the problem

We went over settings again on both the player and AVP and they agree it is set up correctly, but still no clock light

What great service: I would still like to resolve it before they have to come out

Mark,

That's great they are coming out since you are both located in NJ. However, I don't think they will be extended this service to many NJ residents. I hope you or they are able to solve the problem. Denon components have not been very nice to you lately.

First, please, follow this troubleshooting:

1 - ON THE AVP (not the player) CHECK IF *BOTH* HDMI OUTPUTS ARE CONNECTED WITH AN HDMI CABLE.

2 - IF IT SO: REMOVE ONE CABLE

3 - RESTART THE PLAYER - INSERT A BLURAY DISC

The clock light should light. Is a known bug/issue but anyone seems to ignore it (Denon techs first).

I am aware of this issue: only one monitor is connected

there is a BD disc playing

Now that I have the HDMI Control set to on (on both 4810/4010), I'm having an issue with my normal start up, which is Plasma on, Sat on and 4810 on.
I don't get audio from the 4810.... audio goes through to the Plasma.
I have to turn the 4810 off then on again to get audio through the 4810.
If I turn HDMI Control off in the 4810 then all is well with start up, but then I lose the Clock Control when I switch the input of the 4810 to Bluray (4010).
So then it's time to go into the 4810 menu and turn HDMI Control back on
I'm sure there's a workaround to solve this minor issue, I just haven't played around enough yet......

Try to connect to the other AVP monitor output, power cycle the player and see if it works.

locus and dream, as an avp owner with a 4010, I think I have mentioned I have tried all those things. and it just doenst work !

if I dare turn on hdmi control on the avp, thats it I get no audio or picture from my tivo through to the avp or plasma !

audio and picture does work through from the 4010, but no 3 lights.

as mentioned clock control not a bigee for me. but it would nice to know it does work.

I beleive denon needs to refine enabling the clock control if trying to use with a denon avp.

Jeez I'm glad that I'm not trying to achieve DL4 nirvana! If I had a Denon AVR this would be sending me sideways!!

I'm unhappy enough with Denon advertising that they have web control when they dont at the time of sale. Al's comment earlier about having to get something to work required standing on one foot whilst being under the shade of a camel during an eclipse and touching ones nose while making the adjustment wasnt far wrong!!
Maybe he didnt go that far though my lordie!!

hehe yeah, though definitely I dont somehow think the problem with the 4010 itself more a case of older products like the avp that maybe need a bit of the camel's breath before theyd acknowldge the 4010 and its 3rd light !

me too am glad blu-ray clock control not something desperately seeking, so will sit back and wait patiently for denon to get their act together on this one.

they definitely need to put out an addendum to the manual at the very least for the avp in reference to denon link 4th and clock control, as even the latest downloaded manual doesnt a whisp of info on how to engage and setup the feature with compatible players !

My 3930CI has the best analog audio quality of any player I've ever owned for CD, not to mention the incredible 7CH analog audio. So any reason not to replace my 3930CI with the 4010? It would be nice to have everything play from one unit.

ak2000,

If Denon is your player of choice and you require blu-ray, then the answer is yes. I'm not sure of the implementation, but I believe they use the same Burr Brown 1796 DACs.

Well my 6 channel cables finally arrived today! Australia Post strike added basically a week to the delivery time. Ive started holiday's so have had a bit of time on my hands - Anyway, Ive hooked it all up and am suitably impressed!

SACD is in my opinion is up another level on what the 2930 reproduced.

As Ive got a multichannel Pre Amp I'm also toying with the idea of watching a few BR's using the 4010's onboard processing and bypassing the AVR (excluding video switching). It's not easy to do comparisons though I might give it a go.

Sounds very interesting. I'm very interested of how it goes for you because I'm going to use a 5-ch analog input. I'm going to do the same test at a Denon dealer with a 3k reciever e.g. Denon, Nad etc. I think it will be hard to hear differences but very easy to test, just change input. What do you have for amplifier?
