Multiple speakers for FR and FL in new 5.1 ... can someone plz help?

I want to use two speaker boxes that I already have in a new 5.1 system as the front left and right speakers. Each speaker box contains 3 speakers for lows-mids-highs, they came as a mini-stereo system if you will. But I can't figure out how to wire the speakers to match the receiver's output. There are four wires coming from each speaker box (2 R and 2 L) and only two outputs on the receiver ( 1 R and 1 L). To make matters worse I don't know the impedance of each speaker, the manual for the mini-stereo-system only provides that the total load impedance is 6Ω. Could you help me figure out how I could wire the speakers to show the amp the 8Ω load?

some useful info:
1.) (speakers) Manual provides that total load impedance is 6Ω
2.) There are four wires for each speaker box (containing 3 speakers per box)
3.) Receiver rated at 8 Ω

Owners manual: http://service.us.panasonic.com/OPERMANPDF/SCAK27.PDF

Link to service manual for mini-stereo system's receiver/amp/cd-player:
http://servicemanuals.electronica.ro/schematics/panasonic/cd_stereo_system/pan27.pdf

for the above link, the relevant pages are 23 and 30.

Apparently from a quick look at the "user manual" they use a non-traditional (proprietary) wiring specific to the receiver/speaker combo.

You can probably rig it up to work, but:
a) not worth using those speakers
b) why chance fouling up your new receiver

IMHO, get new speakers and sell the HTiB on EBay.

Here's the user's manual (refer to page six):

Agreed. This has come up several times and there is no way to do what you want without inordinate bother and expense. The speakers are intended to connect via a crossover network built into the main box. They cannot be used effectively without that crossover and there is no way to replicate it cheaply. Sell the Panasonic system and get real speakers. Even inexpensive ones will work and sound better than anything you can do with these.

Home receivers are rated for 8 ohms, but some real powerful ones, can drive lower-ohms (difficult) speakers, read the fine prints. Probly not on a receiver though, but honest-to-God standalone power amplifiers.

If u have 2 extra pairs, u can wire up 4 on one side, 2-series + 2-parallel and they will end up as 6 ohms. Kinda nutty though.

If u HAVE to, wire both speakers in parallel, that will give u 3 ohms, then add a 5 ohm, 50 watt resistor in series. It will work, but you are then losing ~60% of the output energy on heat rather than sound.

No. The speakers will distort and/or blow up as they lack the necessary HP filters to protect them.

Allright, it looks like i'll just be getting new speakers, after all these ones were new over 10 years ago anyway!

Thanks all for your responses.
