speaker problem

I have a yamaha rx-v2600 receiver with ypao setup. when i run the initial set up test it tests the front speakers at different volumes and everything is fine. when it gets to the right surround it starts low gets one level louder and then when it tries to go on level louder it shorts out and shuts down the receiver. is this the wire, the speaker, or the receiver?

Not sure, but I bet if you check the Receiver Forum you will get better info.

Switch the surround with the one on the other side. If the speaker exhibits the same problem it has a problem. If the switched speaker now on the right exhibits the problem it is a receiver or wiring problem.
