Yeah, the Sharp bulbs are really only $400 as far as street pricing goes. Heh, "only."
Still that isn't any more money that what I pay for bulbs on my VP4001. I'm strongly considering the XV-Z15000 myself and plan on getting the Mack projector and bulb combo warranty offered through Tapeworks Texas.
Just waiting for the unit to drop further in price (I hope). I think if it dropped to $1500 it would be extremely competitive.
The thing that worries me about the HC3800 is the total lack of an iris. I would have preferred at least a manual 2 step iris. According to Art the HC3800 has lesser black levels than the XV-Z15000. However the HC3800 would be a real steal if it ends up premiering at a price of $1000. I would take the Mitsu any day over the other $999 projectors.
