Back to the Future and Jurassic Park Trilogies Rumored - Fall 2010

Thread Starter
Nuke the Fridge is reporting that both the Back to the Future and Jurassic Park trilogies will be released on Blu-Ray in the fall of 2010.

In addition, Hasbro is releasing a new line of JP toys THIS fall, perhaps testing the waters for a possible JP4 which has been rumored for years now.

I'd love to get my hands on all 6 movies.

Yeah, they have both been rumored for months now. Hell, BTTF even longer with the DVD re-releases.
Man fall 2010, long time to wait if that is true. I would love to get JP on BD.
is that when the new movie comes out?

Give me the first Jurassic Park and the first two Back to the Future movies and throw the rest in the garbage.

You couldn't pay me to watch that Jurassic Park where they could "Hear" the T Rex approaching because it swallowed one of their cell phones another time, so I'm sure as Hell not going to pay someone so I could watch it again.

Hmm. 2010 would be the 25th anniversary of the release of BTTF, soooooo...
Cool I love BTTF. That would be a definite buy.
I love sci-fi but I could never get into Trek or Back to the Future. Then again I never really gave Trek a fair chance, time to watch the set I picked up on the cheap.

The only BTTF I've seen is the one with the train, after that I couldn't sit through the other two(that's only with seeing bits and pieces of them mind you).

JP should have 2 versions, 1 with the original CG and 1 with updated CG. Just to satisfy my curiosity. But they wanted to release just an updated one I would raise hell. If you want to change the movie, please provide the original as well, don't replace it.

DTS-MA JP.

Seems like every year with Blu is "wait until next year."

Enough with the "rumors". We've been hearing stuff like this...for two years already. Time for the studios to rally around the format and act like they give a damn.

That's a little much, considering a lot of critics/fans think BTTF III is the best of the series.

I do think THE LOST WORLD belongs in the garbage though!

Personally I think the CG in the Jurassic Park films holds up very well, at least compared to some other movies of the period. (For example, I was watching Air Force One not too long ago and the plane crash at the end looks like something out of Microsoft Flight Simulator...2000.)

Don't get me wrong. I think it looks better than a number of modern movies that use CG. But I do wonder want the difference would be, it's entirely possible that the effects could end up looking less convincing.

So LOTR, Matrix - AlienQ and JP in the future...you guys see where I'm going with this. HD colorspace + lossless audio + lightsabers - actual information on a release = physical pain.

The first two bttf were great and if you ever get a chance you should give them a watch. The one with the train was the last (not the best one) one but still not too bad. I think it will be hard to do a remake on this film and top it.

BTTF 1-2-3 are all great imo. I watch them always with the same pleasure (and nostalgia of course). JP? hmm, the 1st is very good, but I got tired of it. As for 2 and 3, I prefer 3. I agree, The Lost World shouldn't have been made! So many plot inconsistencies with the first one... Anyway... JP on Blu-ray can wait, but that's just me. But the BTTF trilogy, I'm buying this on day 1. Now if it's being encoded by the little team that did Gladiator, we should prepare ourselves for some disappearing flames when the DeLorean goes for a ride!... Talk about cleaning up the image!

Heh, I love the first JP and the first BTTF, they'll be enuff for me (if available seperately - IF THEY FORCE THEM ON ME IN A SET, FAGETABOUTIT, NO SALE), I will not bite on any of the others in both series...the rest are good, but not 'owners' for me. JP I is gonna be a biggie, great movie and HT experience, but fall 2010 is a loooong ways off to get excited. Hopefully there's plenty of other great stuff coming next year as well...but this is good news/rumor.

2 was going ok but when the rex was caught that was silly. Actually even the actor who played Jeff goldblums daughter when she did that gymnatsic stunt to knock out the raptors that was silly too.I could not stand 3! I heard that 4 was being made.

And they removed all the funny side of Goldblum's character. Just because he was the leading man of the film didn't mean the guy should change! I kinda like JP3 because of the cool new dinos, Sam Neil and Tea Leoni (), but that Nokia ringtone thing was really silly!

Yeah the ringtone was silly. But I wished they followed the lost world book in more detail. Come to think of it, BTTF is a definite buy but JP I will seriously think about.

I too am a big fan of Jurassic Park III. Short and sweet, with a real feeling of dread throughout the entire film. The second one reportedly bored even Spielberg, and it shows.

Agreed on 3. 90 minutes with some terrific set pieces (I think a couple of which were written for the first movie, I believe). Not up to the original, but far, far better than THE LOST WORLD, which I think is Spielberg's worst movie altogether (yep, I'd gladly watch 1941 over it any day!).

Wow. You realize that you invent the concept of a "Special Edition" for Jurassic Park and denounce the creation of such in the same thought, don't you? That's a new geek record, me thinks.

I feel as if I've been waiting for Back to the Future on Blu-ray forever. I really want this trilogy, but another whole year? Damn.

2010 is so far away. Isn`t the world going to end before then anyway.

Nope, that's for 2012. So we're gonna be able to watch BTTF on Blu-ray before the end of the world, but I guess we can kiss the new Gladiator transfer good bye!

The plane crash in Air Force One was terrible even by 1997 standards. I saw that in the theater and remember commenting that the crash looked like it had been animated in Crayola.

No. You misunderstood. I would like both, but if I could only have 1 it would be the original, not the updated.

Anything rumored for 2011 yet? what about 2012?
Jurassic Park is a poor master, not to mention in HD the SFX are going to look pretty shabby on the rendered stuff.

The Jurassic park DVD lacks any real constrast and looks pretty flat. I hope the Blu-ray gets a lovely new master.

I also thought it looked terrible in theaters.

I guess it was a reason why models were still at use at that time. Models started to shape up, but water seemed to be hard to make realistic.

Would be fun to hear Mr Ds comment on this.

Can't wait for the first JP. Don't care for the other two. I love all 3 BTTFs, but It wouldn't be a definite must have.
