I could have sworn my CT use to play my .mts files from my canon camcorder perfectly. I haven't used it for that purpose in months, but now when I try to play an .mts file it says unsupported format and bitstream error. I have made a few (3?) firmware changes since i first bought it, so I don't know if one of the firmware broke it or not. Am I doing something wrong? I am using over the network cat5. I can play all my other file types just fine. I am using latest update (2 files).
Anybody confirm this?

' I added the newest update on 2/26 and now my PC connection is not showing up. I can ping CT from my desktop and use UPnP connection to see my TVersity stuff...so, I know the connection is good.

Anybody else having this problem? '

I just used a wired connection to install the new firmware and it went fine but had a couple snags. After the first file of the update was installed I lost my wired connection and after resetting my router the wired connection worked again. Then I installed the second part and after it installed the cinematube would not power off so I unplugged it. After plugging it back in everything seems to work ok. I also can see that firmware IPB10102111 is installed in the setup area. Hope this helps.

I have been having a problem sustaining the mapped drive on Windows 7. I can get it working and get my backup program to backup up to it but after a few days it will come up saying can not reconnect to drive even though the CT is still turned on (stays on). I have tried putting in the 192.168.X.X in explorer and still can not connect.

I did however find out last night that after reloading the firmware (IPB10102111) again , it will be able to map it again. I have done this a few times now and seems to work everytime. It seems like something is getting hosed up after a few days. I have been trying to eliiminate the problem in either windows, the CT, or my network. Looks like it is the CT.

@scooby_snack4u - If you have not done so, can you check your settings under Video > PC Media > My_Shortcuts. Find out the IP address for your PC that has the media and make a shortcut to it using the IP Address of the system. Let me know if this works for you. They really should have done a better job of communicating just what this "release" is and provide some information about whether the "beta" download included the update of the "loader".

@optantic & @Questi4110 - The method with which it loads is the only difference, since you put the CinemaTube in bootstrap mode that bypassed the need for the other loader. Once the firmware is installed, there is no difference between the manual and online update in functionality.

Hi. Well I've spent over 3 hours now trying to set this up with zero luck. I know there is some help at the brite-view website to get Playon connected but nothing on tversity. I went to tversity website and there is no info there either about how to connect to CT They don't even list CT as a player that works with the service. After installing the tversity software all I have been able to do is go to their website on my pc and download some podcasts to my hard drive which I can stream fine to TV but this isn't how it is supposed to work on CT. I see nothing about tversity anywhere in the UpnP area on the cinemnatube. This seems to be maddenly difficult to set up on CT.

Has anyone actually been able to get this to work right ?

Do you have to use the pay version of tversity to get it working with CT (I have free version) ?

Does anyone know where there are specific instructions on how to get it
working with CT

Thanks for any help

I'd used the free version tversity briefly a while back and it worked fine, I didn't have to change any tversity settings (if I remember correctly) at all but used defaults.

you should be able to see tversity on your CT under upnp as long as you have tversity open on your PC.

btw, can your CT see your PC under My Media at all?

Subs that worked previously (.srt) same name and folder as .avi no longer play.
when hit sub button only see subs as off and can't change to on as before.

saw another poster above mention and no response, is this known issue, or perhaps just bad firmware update on my end?
I updated last night to the new firmware. Now, NO SOUND!
DVD and BR play fine, while media from CT still look great, you can't hear what they are saying!

How do I go back to the old firmware? Can't be positive that this will fix my problem, but as it worked perfectly before update and now doesn't after update, seems reasonable.

Most embarrassing. Had friends over to watch a movie and humiliation was the outcome. Wound up watching something else on DVD no less, but please. This shouldn't be a test product. If the firmware isn't ready, don't release it. Would rather know you are working on a "good" solution than have you rush something out that isn't ready. Have been involved with premature launches in the past - Volvo S80 1999 - wound up costing Ford (Volvo's owner) MILLIONS. Car wasn't ready. Volvo knew it, could not convince Ford to delay until it was. Car wound up being sold at huge discounts for 8 years afterwards. Huge regrets later. Cost Volvo tons of goodwill. For what? One year's sales revenue? You guys are playing with fire if you can't get this right.

Sorry for rant.

The update usually take me back to default state. Have you reseted the sound output?
AVS66, you were right.

Well, yesterday I went down (slightly hung over) and figured out that the firmware update DID reset everything back to default which meant HDMI, not SPDIF/RAW which is what I needed.

So, if you update your firmware, make sure it is all set before you invite friends over for cocktails and movies without checking first!

Also, don't write rants when drunk. You might regret it.

Well, in my opinion, it should not reset back to default state after updated.

@Brite-View: I didn't ask about the loader. I think you thought I was writing about the loader information... I was asking about the following question:

Can anyone else get this to play in 5.1 sound?

My settings are SPDIF RAW to my surround sound receiver using optical audio (every other audio file plays fine in 5.1 audio).

You said you would take a look into this but never got back to us about it. Any updates?

Your reciever appears to handle WMA but only ones with bitrates of 56-128 kbps. And no mention of whether 5.1 wma is supported. Having your sound set to RAW will output the WMA file directly and your receiver will have to decode it. I'm guessing your receiver can't handle decoding the file. Does it work if you set the CinemaTube to LPCM?

Got mine this week from Amazon. At first, I thought I had a defective unit because I had no sound no matter what I tried, for playing a downloaded video with MP3 sound. So I had Amazon send a replacement. Then I figured out that I needed to stop using RAW and used the other setting instead, and things magically started working. When Amazon sends the replacement, I'll send back the unopened one.

Also, could get no access to my Windows 7 computers. Followed many threads here with no luck. Finally stumbled upon one post that linked to an instruction blog on Brite-View's site that had a few registry settings to change... to allow everyone to include anonymous access. That was key, but I was still not quite there.

I set the directory that had my video files to "everyone access, full control," quit the homegroup stuff, messed with a few more advanced sharing settings, and Windows 7 sharing started working, too... no more "logon fail" message, and no more logon prompts, either. Just like my XP boxes were right from the start.

This thing is the greatest ever. Videos play back flawlessly, and it even looks like there's some upscaling involved in low resolution videos. My 720p blu-ray rips give great dolby digital sound when I use the RAW sound setting. My Harmony remote is now set up with the commands.

Bottom line, I'm thrilled. Was waiting for the Pop-Box to come out, but I don't need Netflix, Youtube, Pandora, as I get those on my Blu-ray player. And I could always spend the $30-40 and get Playon and still be under the Pop-Box price.

Hey everyone - been lurking around AVS for some time, mainly researching a surround system upgrade in home audio. As most of you veterans know, this forum is an obsession and as could be expeected, I'm side-tracking into other things:

I'd like to access HQ streaming content when sitting in my media room from a PS3/PS3 interface that is located in different room - wirelessly. Can anyone give me the short and most inexpensive, easiest way to get HD movies/PS3 content *from* the PS3 console/PS3 Network *into* my media room without having the PS3 physically located there? Will this Brite-View I've stumbled upon do the trick and allow me to wirelessly access the PS3 HD movie content through the PS Store? I guess I'd have to somehow navigate the menus without the PS3 in front of me - can this even be done? Maybe there's a much easier addition to the media system without a new component or moving the PS3... Likely I just need some sleep... too much AVS Forum today.

Thanks in advance

yng : The first problem was that Tversity services thing would not start but believe I have that solved now but I still see nothing in CT UPNP area about Tversity or anything else it just says empty list. I have zero problems with CT and can see PC Media , HDD media etc everything works properly except upnp. The problem most likely is that the tversity software is either bugged or network/router settings aren't set up properly and if you aren't expert about these things it's probably not a great idea to mess with them much or you could get a huge headache later. I've pretty much given up getting it to work unless either Brite-View or Tversity provide a guide for the CT. Until then you're pretty much stuck with a trial and error method to get it to work since TVersity does not offer any support for CT whatsoever.

Hi Guys

I don't wander in this section a lot so please pardon my ignorance.

I just upgraded our old 27" tube TV to a 42" Panny plasma and I'm very happy with the TV and the fact that now I have another reason not to leave my bed!

I have a HTPC for my main HT room and I'm thinking of getting a set top box for my Panny so I watch Netflix, Hulu, streams from my HTPC on the TV.

It appears this particuar box does not support Netflix (I love the new content+Starz Play on 'Watch Now' section)....is there any way I can stream Netflix on this box?

I could probably get a cheap Xbox 360 but my wife doesn't want another console in our house...especially NOT in the bedroom!

Thanks

PS: Don't bother...found this youtube link explaining the Netflix process...

Hi,
I have read a good portion of the board and did not see my question so here is my first.

I have a Cinematube player and when I look for my video files I have a storage selection of my Direct TV HD DVR. I can see all the files but when I select the file to view it fails. I think that it is a file without a codec or a copy right issue.
Am I doing something wrong or is this something that may come in a form of an upgrade in the future?
Thank you

I believe that will only give you SD Netflix. If you want HD Netflix + streaming from your HTPC then you need to wait for the Popbox or Boxee Box like everyone else. 8-)

Got the latest firmware installed a little while ago. Everything went smoothly and now I'm able to do the things I wanted to be able to do from the start like copy from one drive to the next.

The UI is 1000% better.

Other thoughts: It would be nice to be able to hook up my old XBOX HD-DVD drive to this thing and be able to watch some of those movies that are collecting dust seeings how there is added support for DVD drives and what not.

Hi,
is it possible to request firmware support for 20,22" monitor that has typical resolution: 1680x1050?
Do most of HD media players which supports 1080P work with the new computer LCD monitors with resolution 1920x1080?
My question sounds weird to you? I have an excellent high end 20" monitor that i want to convert to DIY digital photo frame. The thing is this monitor doesn't support any other resolution than the native one 1680x1050.

Quick question for brite-view: My wife and I are looking at getting a video player so we can watch anime (the PS3 just ain't cuttin' it). However, I'm having trouble finding out if any of the players on the market support SSA v4.0 or higher subtitle streams (A.K.A. Advanced SubStation Alpha A.K.A. ASS). Any word on this?
