I just watched "Over the top" with Sly and "Clear and Present Danger" (very high bitrate) and both played perfectly also. Please note.... No one was on my Lan at the time.

If it doesn't play problem free, then I can't sell it to my clients. Imagine the grief I would get from customers saying their movies are stuttering after spending 250K+. Let me PM Peter to see if he is having problems.

I understand... All I can say is that on my setup, I have had very few hiccups when watching movies. All of those hiccups came when Missy was on Facebook doing Farmville or surfing/downloading... I have not done concrete testing/benchmarking but I am 100% sure I never had a hiccup when we settlled down to actually watch a movie with no other internet/network traffic going on. Maybe my LAN needs a boost, but I also tested to see if I can pull from my Server with all 3 Dunes running a different movie and all 3 played without issue. I only tested for about 45 minutes or so. No dropouts or stutters that I could see. I watched two and Missy watched the other. I walked between two rooms so I could have missed something but the few segments I watched played perfectly.

Well just watched Inglorious Basterds tonight and the first half of a full blu ray rip (ISO) played perfectly up to about 1:45 minutes into the film. Then periodically I would get a thin green line or a little bit of pixelation once every few minutes but sound never once dropped out of of the glorious dts-hd. I was wondering if maybe the Dune was getting too hot? This was being played in a base thorugh the internal hard drive that is western digital green series at 5400?

Playing Cloudy with a chance of meatballs in bluray ripped to an ISO, was ripped with AnyDVDHD 6609 before the new one came out. Unlike the Dark Knight bluray the scenes where it happens are repeatable if I rewind and play them again. Specifically I am homing in on 58:11 and 58:43 where a narrow line of green and yellow appears across the screen but that's not the only places, from 1:01 on there are a bunch of places where it happens. Playing it on a computer with PowerDVD 9 I don't see anything wrong at all.

I tried these recommended settings from earlier in the thread and it made zero difference at all for me.

I'm ripping my ISO to file mode to see if that makes any difference.

Any suggestions guys?

Is this a "Full" ripped ISO or it is a "Ripped" ripped ISO. I have over 290 "Ripped" ripped ISOs and never had any pixelation. I just tested the time codes you posted with Cloudy and no issues were discovered. Please note, I only do Movie, forced Subs, Subs and hidef audio with ClownBD and AnyDVDHD. I wonder if that makes a difference?

Can you rip again with just Movie, Subs, Forced Subs and Hidef Audio into ISO. I have watched this Movie 4- 5 times over LAN and never had an issue. I only do ISO lites. Maybe that is the key?.. See post above.

I downloaded the latest firmware and placed it on my server. I can see the dff file, but how do you start the install?

I created a shortcut on the main menu to a server folder of movies. I did this to two folders, one shows the folders in the extended list mode and the other is showing them in the icon mode. i created both of them the same way, how do I change them to the list mode?

Sounds similar to the problem I have, the audio dropouts and visual green lines or pix elation don't exactly coincide all the time. I also have this on bluray, I will give it a try today.

Ripped to ISO using AnyDVDHD and nothing else. Have these options set in AnyDVDHD in the picture below.

And guys, what is the trick to playing back a whole movie in file mode with menu's etc? I am sort of looking for the "play the VIDEO_TS.IFO" file like with DVD's.

Can you try making a ripped ISO with just movie, subs, forced subs and hidef audio? I use ClownBD for this. Those that have the issues that you described always seem to make full ISOs using only ANYDVDHD.

Where in the network (WHS) can I sniff out the name of the movie being played by the dune?

Reason I ask I want to adjust lens aspect ratio and screen masking.

Sure these are my results using cloudy with a chance of meatballs bluray:

1)ISO file created with AnyDVDHD6609: movie has green lines at times 58:11, 58:43 and 1:03:59 just to name a few. These are repeatable every time.

2)Taking that original full disk ISO file that had problems and ripping it to file mode using AnyDVDHD and playing the 05037.m2ts file shows no green lines at those scenes or any others that I found. The times don't line up though because that isn't the whole movie.

3)Taking that original full disk ISO file that had problems and ripping it to another ISO using Clown BD using main movie, DTSHDMA audio and some subs and it plays back fine at those trouble spots. I did still note that there was a sound dropout or two while I was watching the movie waiting for those scenes.

As far as the sound dropouts go I can't find any repeatability to them, they just happen every now and again no matter what. DVD movies play back fine, already watched a bunch of DVD's on the unit. I really want to maintain menus and extras for my bluray collection, that is sort-of the whole reason I picked the Dune.

Right now I am taking that original ISO ripped with AnyDVDHD6609 and re ripping it to ISO using AnyDVDHD6623 on the off chance that is what fixed situation 3 above.

Oh and something else I noticed with all this back and forth, on the Dune the menu animations in bluray are REALLY slow and jerky, not smooth at all. These play back nice and quick in PowerDVD9.

Have you tried re-ripping to see if you get the same problems?

It may be that something transient can happen during the ripping that introduces problems at random locations.

Anyone?

Why would I come to that conclusion?

A: That file plays fine in powerdvd9.
B: Items 2 and 3 play without the visual corruption on the Dune player and both of them started with that same file.

Does anyone know how to clear the automatic bookmarks that get made by the Prime when you exit watching a movie before completing it?

It's a nice feature to go back in to a stream and pickup where you left off - but what if I want to start back over from the beginning?

How do you play a whole bluray disk in file mode? I can't find what to play to get the whole disk to play like normal with menus etc.

Try clean Blu-ray "cash" on memory card:

dune_service_clear_bluray_local_storage.dsf

Its about this HDD ?

Very Loud/Very Slow

Pros: 9.5" / 640gb...

Cons: Without a doubt... This is the loudest Hard Drive I have ever dealt with, bar none So much so, that it is impossible to concentrate when hearing this thing constantly spinning up and down The other issue, which I consider worse... Is (if you can believe that)... There is a 1 to 2 second lag while this thing spins up / seeks

Other Thoughts: This is the first time I have ever felt the need to respond / give my opinion in how dissatisfied I am with a product... I have installed dozens and dozens of HDD's... Not once, having a problem... This HDD was installed in Apples top of the line MacBook Pro... Replacing a 320gb, 7200 HDD, I was hoping to gain additional space while taking a hit performance wise (5400)... It was beyond slow... It was beyond loud... It was a waste of times spent... In the end, the 640HDD was replaced with an Hitachi 500gb, 7200 HDD... Fast / Silent = GOOD STUFF !!!

I have a base on the way, so I haven't been able to play with it yet. But I do have a question. I don't plan on doing any streaming (as wireless would be my only option). I will be transferring the ISO/BD Folders/MKV's from another computer via external HDD. I take it that I will have to run MyMovies on the computer, let it organize everything and then let it dump everything onto the external drive. At that point I will connect the external drive to the Dune. Do I then just copy everything over to the internal Dune HDD?

Some streaming protocols have error correction. If that is the case the PowerDVD may be correcting the errors and the Dune not.

The re-processing of the file may do the same.

I don't know for sure but you might learn something if the location of the problems changed.

If you hit "0" on the remote when playing it will start at the beginning. Hit "1" it will jump to 10% and so on.

I do use it and I do like it. I was just looking at DVDFab as a comparison. Are Clown's "passes" the same as Fab's scanning? Fab only seems to do scanning when you just just the movie rip feature...which the scan does take some time
