Yeah but that is semantics. I could just as easily say the DVD Forum/HD DVD PRG didn't stop Samsung and LG from putting the competitions product into their HD DVD player. They were combo units, 50/50.
I guess if they paid the licensing fees for each the opposing governing bodies didn't really care. Though one governing body has since been disbanded.
One way or the other, HD DVD is not included.
Toshiba gave up on it when they discontinued it in Feb. 2009. The only reason HD DVD playback was even suggested is from HD DVD owners wishful thinking.
The real issue now is that Toshiba released a copycat player, sourced out with a generic remote to boot, and no selling points besides the player saying "TOSHIBA" on it.
