I agree. Three times in one season is too much. It was hilarious the first time, lost quite a bit of its impact the second time, and was only slightly funny the third time. However, James Franco's performance in the skit was great.

And they showed Kristen Wigg's other obnoxious character in the dinner sketch with Dr. House.

I've watched SNL off and on it's entire run. I understand that it's difficult sometimes to "get" a sketch or character if you don't understand the context or who they are lampooning. The humor of the Gilly character and that entire dinner table sketch was lost on me, unless just being dopey was the point, I'm confused. Maybe someone can fill in what I'm missing.

Local papers had field day with Francos' man-on-man kiss ala Adam Lambert ..

The premise was a direct cop from a skit (or two) that they did in the past (remember the one with Farrell, Gasteyer and Sarah Michelle Gellar alternating between bursts of hateful yelling at each other and complete calm at the dinner table?) - only, unlike the others, this one had absolutely nothing funny, clever, original or special about it.

I do think the current cast is one of the more talented ones they have had in a while.
Bill Hader is a master of facial expressions and Jason and Kennan are at the top of their game. For some reason "What up with that" leaves us in tears. Andy, Wil, Kristen and the others are hitting strides as well.

Jason is far and away my favorite. I love every time they do What Up With That simply because I get to see Sudeikis in a track suit and a really awful white boy afro wig dancing like a moron.

Unquestionably, he is this generation's Rich Little... rubber face, independently operable eyebrows, and perfect impressions of anybody he does. Eerie Keith Morrison, the Italian James Lipton interviewing Americans who don't speak Italian, the list goes on and on. His stable of characters is amazing and they are so perfect that I find him much more entertaining than even Darrell Hammond was.

I still think his Al Pacino is the best. I remember that opening skit on their very first HD show a few years back, where the whole cast was at a party and every cast member was doing an impression of some celebrity. His was Al Pacino... to perfection, and I couldn't stop laughing.

I dont have too. I just skip through the stupid suff, Gilly and that asinine Kenan thing where he has 3 guests but keeps breaking into song. Its the same bologna every week. Not funny. AS others have said its just stupid. Id say 20% of the show is great guest singer entertainment and 30% is good comedy including the Obama skits, Tiger woods skits and weekly update etc. The other 50% is filled with STUPID skits no one wants to see, yet they keep doing them over and over and over. Thank god for Tivo.

wait for it........

its coming......

VAGISIL!!!!!!!!!!

oh yeah.. that was funny... NOT

Concur. And, until now, I didn't consider myself a fan of their's. They won me over.

When jokes like that creep in (or worse become the focus) you know the writers are running out of humor fuel.

Writing good humor is hard, when it gets to hard, throw in jokes about "taboo" bodily functions.

"Knives, knives, all kinds of knives..." I'm sorry, but that turn in the "Jammies" Digital Short slayed me. I did not see that coming at all. The Digital Shorts are mostly comic gold.

Thought Liberace going down on James Dean - or at least Vincent Price's reaction to it - was great also.

I don't understand what is remotely funny about the "What's Up with That?" skit, but I must be in the minority, since they keep bringing it back. Same with Gilly and pretty much every other recurring Wiig character. She does nothing for me. Just FFWD through her humorless noise.

More Hader and Sudeikis please!

was that brittany murphy snl spoofed in a skit a few weeks ago.

kind of creepy if they did spoof her after what has happened.

Yeah, she's been having major issues lately. Namely getting booted off a movie for erratic behavior. They've since scrubbed all repeats of that episode of the bit mocking her.

was their a new show last night?

with the holiday schedule I got screwed up and forgot to set the dvr

Repeat. If you saw the Joseph Gordon Levitt episode, no need to concern yourself. New episode this coming Saturday. Charles Barkley with musical guest Alicia Keys.

And Chuckie will be doing SNL after spending the afternoon yukking it up with the Football Night In America guys on Wild Card Saturday. Don't be surprised if any of the FNIA stuff (or his TNT buddies) make some sort of appearance on SNL.

Was that a women giving birth to a jazz musician called Sergio? ha

The Vagisil sponsored bowling open was great, but a couple weeks ago they outdid it with the Summers Eve sponsored lady darts competition....DOUCHE!

"When your man's in a coma from your panty aroma....Summers Eve....DOUCHE!"

Holy Mackerel! The first SNL funny enough in decades to make it past midnight.
Why don't they do more clever things like tying a sketch with a commercial? That was great and totally unexpected. It was like someone was thinking for a change.

Hamm now firmly belongs in the pantheon of great SNL host who make the show worth watching (along with Timberlake, Baldwin, and Walken).

It was one of the best episode in last few year. Sergio video was AWESOME! Hamm and Buble was great too. Buble did great in that skit.

Only bad skit was Kristen Whig doing an annying woman bit, YET AGAIN (how many different skits with the EXACT SAME character do they need to have???).

I assume you're talking about the "making me sing" skit. And I agree, she's basically just doing the same character now over and over and over.

Agreed. He appears to genuinely have a real sense of humor, comedic timing, and he can take on characters and do impersonations and voices and dialects. Plus... he can act, and doesn't always have to read every word while staring into a cue card (January Jones... are you listening???)

Similarly surprising was Taylor Swift, when she did her Shakira impersonation.

I thought Will Forte as the "closet organizer" was absolutely hilarious! First truly new character and sketch idea in a long time. Reprising it with Hamm in the bar was also a novel and inventive and amusing idea... and it worked too!

I wonder if it will be repeated to death, and take on a "Magruber"-like tiresomeness eventually. Certainly on this first appearance it was nothing but laugh-out-loud funny.
hey, don't diss "MacGruber"! I find it consistently pretty funny, as many Forte bits are (I suspect he writes a lot of his own stuff).

As for Hamm's show, it started well but the yukks went away after the news.
not bad. couple laughs. an entertaining show.

much better than the one 2 weeks ago. that one just stank.
can't even remember who hosted, but that got erased after

Thought this one maybe the worst of the season. Only Hamm & Buble and the closet organizer sketch were good.
