Does it really? I ripped mine with NO subtitles and it seems to be burned right onto the movie.

I think the UK/EU version has them forced and the US version are burned...I could have that reversed though.

Yup...burned in to the US version...I just check the logs from when I ripped it.

If anyone would like permission to edit the list and keep it going PM me your e-mail address. I haven't been buying many movies lately so my rips have slowed considerably.

I've got the European version of the Bourne trilogy. I got a seperate forced sub track in Mike's program for Identity. Nothing came up as forced for Supremacy....

I can't remember, are there no non-english parts in Supremacy?

Guys,

I've just read this entire thread but I'm still having some trouble with the forced sub track in Kill Bill Vol 1.

I ripped the BD with Clown_BD and located the small forced sub track. I then converted this sub track in BDSup2Sub and put it in with my main title, audio, etc, in MKVMerge. I made sure that when I select that subtitle track in MKVMerge it has the "forced" flag set.

Yet, when I play the movie back in XBMC the forced subs don't show. Weirder yet, if I select to turn all subs on in the movie the forced sub track (and not the standard english subtitles) appears for those scenes.

Very confusing, what am I missing to get this to work with ClownBD, BDSup2Sub and MKVMerge?

Thanks!

What format did you convert the sub track to? I usually have the subtitles as a separate file (.srt usually) and PS3 Media Server can pick them up with a .dll file in the 'plugins' folder for AviSynth. You might have converted to the wrong format.

I worked on the Bourne Trilogy a few months ago as well and only Identity and Ultimatum had subs that were needed for english translation (forced subs).

You might have a player problem. I would use Media Info and verify the sub track is in the file.

The sub is in .idx/.sup format and muxxed into an .mkv with mkvmerge. I am playing them back on a PC with XBMC.

The sub track does show up in media info but does not indicate what properties the sub track has.

The sub track displays properly as forced in other media players, but in xbmc only displays if I specifically turn subtitles on.

Check out my mkv guides here:

http://www.mediasmartserver.net/tag/mkv/

Mike Eby's Another EAC3To GUI will mux in the forced subs. I also have a writeup showing you how to do it manually using Clown_BD + BDSup2Sub + MKVMerge.

I am actually watching 2012 right now (has forced subs) in MPC HC, plays flawless (aside from the fact that it is a horrible movie). Let me know if you have any other questions

OK... I'm trying to understand how to make a blu-ray to bd25 backup (no mkv) of a movie-only blu-ray with forced subtitles to play automatically. How can this be done? I am a newbie and I would appreciate a simple guide on how to do this. I currently am trying to work on Iron Man.

Thanks so much in advance for any insight.

hi all,
first, i'm new to the forum and i have joined up purely becuase of the excellent work being done here on this thread.
dealing with forced subtitles is a nightmare, so i thought i'd share with you my method.

1) backup private copy of my dvd (vobs and such)
2) run vobs through dvdsubedit,
3) check 'display forced subs' box
4) run through frames using slider to check the dialouge in question.
5) run the inbuilt ocr and save to .srt
6) combine srt with vobs when making the backup avi with autogk.

yesterday i bought a copy of district 9, and i'd forgotten the above method. i spent all day from 9 till 5 trying to figure it out. drove me totally insane.
then, after trawling the interweb and coming across this thread time and again for some reason my memory was jogged and hey presto, got a totally accurate forced subs srt in about 5 minutes flat with minimal brain use and minimal mouse clicking.
dvdsubedit rules.

and finally, a big big thank you for the list ! awesome effort !

More R1 DVD's w/ forced subs: Red Dawn, Charlie's Angels, Hellboy, Once Upon a Time in Mexico, Stigmata, xXx, Bad Boys II, Mona Lisa Smile, Boondock Saints II, Tomorrow Never Dies, Die Another Day. Might be useful when people add to the list to note what format/region they are talking about since a movie may or may not have forced subs if Blu/DVD.

I show it is Track #5. Question Mike, when using your tool in command line mode and it demuxes all the files, does it do anything to separate the forced subtitles, or does it just demux all of the user defined subtitles (in my case English) and the user has to determine if forced subtitles are present

It "should" create a .IDX file that contains the forced subs. I just re-ripped (demux only) Defiance while working on the PGS project and there was a .SUB and a .IDX that was created by bdsup2sub.

Hmmm....maybe I have an old version of your porgram installed. I had ripped Youth In Revolt using the command line and the resulting files no forced subs were present. Will look at again.

That may have not worked in an older version.

Yeah, I just checked and every time I installed a new version of AEAC the old version stayed installed as well, so odds are I was running an old one. Just uninstalled all versions and reinstalled only the newest

Yes I opened it up to allow you all better access to keep things up to date, however as soon as I did that last night someone deleted all of the movie names to be funny. So I'm not sure if it will remain open or not.
