She retired from acting looooong ago (at 39) and her public image was not her priority, hence the old witch look. Had she continued in the movie business, maybe she would have looked more like Helen Mirren or something, who knows... But as oink says, everyone ages unfortunately....

Even the fabulous Helen Mirren is going to look like that someday. Everyone does. It's certainly more dignified than continuing to stretch their faces out with ill-advised plastic surgical procedures until their mugs look like a permanent Kabuki-mask and they can no longer make facial expressions. Ugh.

This is a society that worships youth and beauty. That's fine as far as it goes, but the unfortunate side effect is a lack of appreciation of another kind of beauty consisting of a lifetime full of adventure and experience. Since I'm now closer to the latter than the former, I can relate in a way I couldn't when I was a younger buck.

But I'll never get tired of looking at pretty girls. I've told my wife if that ever happens, that's when she needs to start worrying.

A comedian said it best (think it was Pete Holmes):

"Talking to a 21-year-old is just like talking to a baby... only babies don't have dumb ideas yet."
