She has become a household name almost overnight, her blonde locks, never-ending legs and womanly curves propelling her to the cover of Sports Illustrated’s Swimsuit Edition.
But, while Kate Upton looks in fine form in the sizzling shoot and wall-to-wall publicity surrounding the much-hyped launch, it was revealed that the 5′ 11″ model might never have made the cover if it wasn’t for a little friendly dieting advice.
The 19-year-old bombshell reportedly let her figure go last summer – so much so that her friends stepped in to set her back on the path to superstardom.
A friend of Miss Upton’s told the New York Post: ‘She’s not your typical model… She will eat anything. She’s not assuming. She’s not into herself. She’s not very affected.’
The football fan’s laid-back approach started to show, the newspaper said – and pounds piled on, in part because of her refreshingly healthy attitude to eating.
Extra gym sessions were all it took to hone her body into readiness for the coveted role, the hard work paying off, it appears.
The Post reports that the model last night admitted to her sweet tooth at club Crimson in New York. She said: ‘I never deprive myself. If I’m craving something once a week, then I’ll go have it… Ice cream or whatever, I just eat the foods I like.’
Her workout regimen keeps her in shape, and she praised her personal trainer for her figure.
I think it has more to do with her shape. Her hips and mid-section are very long in many of these and other pics. Her bellybutton is very high, which makes her waistline high in proportion to the rest of her body, especially in this pic - almost to the bottom of her breasts when she bends. Of course huge breasts close that gap.
What is that weird red thing peeking out of her bikini bottom? Is it a digital edit to hide something, or is she wearing something under the suit?
My guess is it's some sort of tape covering the good parts, that way even if the whole bottom falls off bits won't be left uncovered, kind of like pasties
If it's a fruit roll-up I'm hungry

As much as we may fantasize about that happening, it appears it is virtually impossible. I’m sure runway models use these and more.
Panty liners. These are placed into swimsuit bottoms to prevent camel toe (or frontal wedgies).
Toupee tape. While it’s typically used to keep dresses and costumes in place, toupee tape can also be used to solve a number of different problems. Double-sided tape is also commonly used to keep tops and straps in place. And the ever-popular fashion tape seems to keep everything in its place.
Butt Glue (or Firm Spray). Used by many beauty pageant contestants during the swimsuit competition, it’s applied directly to the rear end in order to prevent swimsuit bottoms from riding up while on stage. (Craft spray is a great alternative to butt spray.)
Duct tape. It’s used to create instant cleavage which helps during the swimsuit and evening gown portions of the competition. (In effect, they’re using duct tape to make their own homemade push up bra!) Another way that duct tape is used is to trim off extra pounds. By taping the duct tape around the waist and stomach, you create the illusion that you’re a little bit thinner.

Gee, thanx for providing me with information I really wish I didn't have....
Yeah it's probably double-sided tape meant to keep that bottom in place since Kate doesn't really have a big size difference between her waist and her hips and even if she did, the strings on that bottom aren't placed properly to do their job. The designer really needs to hire a MechE to redesign those strings.
