Looking at my 3600 more; I discovered that the fan seemed to no longer be operating; which lead to me believing the unit overheated and was damaged.
Just curious if anybody else has had this happen to them... I'm still trying to determine if the 3600 is not working correctly or if it is the powered sub that is having issues...

I haven't had any issues with overheating so far. I regularly listen to 2.1 music for 2 hours without an issue. You should keep an eye on it if it's a new symptom. Get it looked at if under warranty.

Have you tried other Blu-Ray players? How about PS3?

I dont have any other bluray player, thats why I want to hear if anyone else has a panasonic bdt210 set up with HK 3600.
I used a reset player video resolution, it helped no flashes, but player now can't bitstream properly. Instead DTS-HD MA it streams as DTS. Could it be that receiver says something back to the player and player does convert the stream?

No issues here either with movie marathons or playing music for hours while entertaining friends/family.

I will second the "get it looked at" thought - HK has terrific customer service.

Guys, any one experieced troubles to connect Panasonic BDT210 to HK3600?
Anyone with good or bad experience?
I already exchange my old one BDT210 to a new one and see same issue.
For some reason I have either good video and just DTS bitstream from panasonic or I have a good DTS-HD MA audio and bad video (video flashes). When I reset video resolition on the pkayer the pkayer starts to show good video but audio back to just DTS bitstream problem.
I checked the firmware update and it is the latest one 1.6.1.1
What could be an issue why they cant talk to each other?

Over on the BDT210 thread, they state that it has a weak HDMI driver and requires the latest high speed HDMI cables. Might wanna post over there and see what others are saying.
I actualy have a high speed hdmi cable, not very expensive but should be good quality. Tonight I found that if I forse player to output video 1080i, then when it plays movie 24p it plays it 1080p 24 at least receiver shows it on video input. And everything works just fine. The home screen menu is 1080i 60 which is fine.

I have s similar issue with a Sony blu-ray player and my 2600. HD video plays fine, but menus and SD video flashes or drops out. SD video can regularly drop out for 10 secs or more.

Well, it looks like an issue on a Harman Kardon side. It cant handle multiple resolution and frame rate well. Or it still could be a problem on a player side.

I don't know that model, but check for the Surround Mode button on the remote. In there, there should be an option to use 7/5/2 channel stereo. Check your manual.

Yes but in 2-Chan it still use sub.

Then you might have to set your fronts to 'Large' while you listen in 2 channel. Cumbersome, but doable. Not sure if there is any way around that.

I have the 1600. It has an option for LFE only for the sub so the sub will only be used with material that contains that channel.

But unless you have efficient full range speakers you're going to miss out on a lot of bass during movies and would still need to change it back.

Hi,

I am experiencing drop outs at the beginning of songs when I listen to cds. Does anyone know what causes this?

thanks

Before the song starts, there is no signal being sent to the AVR. The AVR, once it detects the signal, engages the proper mode, but it is not quick enough, so some of the beginning is cut off. On the input you have setup for music, ensure that you choose your preferred mode (stereo, PLII etc) and not Automatic. (In automatic, it will be looking for the proper mode to use and will cut the song starts)

Try that and report back, I think that should do it though.

Try it and there is still a delay. Any other ideas?

Thanks
I found using a digital coaxial connection to play CDs led to fewer instances of the delay compared with HDMI. (Optical should work similarly.) However, it still does happen randomly sometimes. I think the only way to eliminate it completely would be to run an analog connection between the receiver and the CD player.

Hey guys been out of the game for a while and need a new receiver for my eD system, I have a6 towers a6 center and a4 rears, I really only want to spend 5 hundred or so but I'm really loving the looks of the marantz 5006 how would this compare to the new harmons, i almost pulled the trigger a few years ago on the 354 i think it was and looking at the 2650 the marantz seems to have much better specs. Am i missing another contender? I will be using for my gaming/htpc and ps3. I like the price of the 1650 but would i be much better off saving a little bit more for the 5006, and will this be sufficient power for my a6 towers or should i go a different route. I would much rather be patient and save a little bit more for sound q.

Thanks ahead..

edit: just noticed how great the prices on amazon are for the h/k 3600 i will add the 3600 in the mix at 483 seems like the best bang for the buck? I think its going to be hard not to choose this model, does it play well with the ps3?

I've been using a 3600 for about a year with NO issues with the PS3, Seperate h/k Blu-Ray player, cable box or CD player. And 354 for 2 years before that. I hope you enjoy!

Hey all, newbie to this forum.

Got a smokin deal on an HK 2600 from Harman Audio that I couldn't resist. Well I've had it for almost a week now and have only found one thing that doesn't work properly. Its the "Logic7 Music" setting. It randomly goes in and out on my surrounds (currently setup is a 5.0 config). All the other surround sound modes are fine, even the Logic7 Movie and Game work. I'm thinking it's a software issue but wanted to know if anybody else has noticed this or has an answer. It's not a big deal cause I like 2 channel stereo better. Other than that I love it.

My 3600 is acting up.

It's been a week now and whenever I use HDMI 1 (DVD) my HK 3600 outputs green to my palsma.
Has anybody seen this before? I unplugged it for 1 hour and switched the power button at the rear to off, but no change.
How is a factory reset done on this system?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

In standby mode hold the ok button for 5 seconds - if I'm remembering correctly. It is in the manual somewhere.

I hooked it up to my B&K Sonata 5 Video amplifier via pre-outs. When I turned it on it immediately went into protect mode. Note I have no speaker wires hooked to it because they are going to my B&K amp. So I try to turn off the receiver a few times and adjust all my wiring including my preamp connections. On the fourth time I unplug it and replug it in and it starts working fine

I'm going to go to receiver power on my speakers soon. So should I be concerned that something is wrong with my receiver or was it just a hiccup caused by an HDMI signal or some of my cables? Again I had no speaker wires connected to casue a short.

Oh yeah oddly enough I turned the receiver on its side so my preout/optical cables wouldn't be pulled too tight.

Well I rma'd my 3600 today. I couldn't power it on without it going right into protect mode. The part is that Harmin Audio seems to be making me foot the bill on shipping. I wish they would hook me up like some you other guys and give me an upgrade...that would be a 7550 ...how awesome that would be. Well instead I guess I'm getting stuck with an extra $22 shipping tacked onto what I've already paid unless they will refund me later and I'm not aware of it if they plan to do that

When I RMA'ed my 3600, it cost me 55$ to ship from CA to GA.

I doubt HK will upgrade to the 7550, completely different model line as 3600 is already a flagship for that particular model lineup.

Can't hurt to ask though

How long did you have yours before it broke down? Mine was pretty much broke out of the box. They didn't refund your shipping?

This kind of makes me want to cancel and go with Marantz or someone. My only problem is that my wife doesn't like my Pioneer 1120k and I figure the Marantz will add just as much dynamic high/low sound as the Pioneer does from the review I've read.
No shipping refund on mine either IIRC...
mine was a refurb that started having HDMI board issues after a few months.

No, shipping was not refunded. Mine worked for about 9 months.

Compare both at the same time. Return one you don't like. Marantz and HK amps sound somewhat similar.

Well they sent me a shipping label the day after I shipped it. Their tech support probably told me but I found their is quite a language barrier and I didn't understand him.

Oh well at least I may get it back early this coming week...hopefully with no issues...If it does I may decide to go Marantz 6004 or 6005.
