I was finally able to access the service menu on my 6400. I had to use Mute-1-8-2-Power. The other code Info-Menu-Mute-Power didn't work. From the service menu Type shows 40A1UF0E. From some of the other posts it looks like I have a first gen SQ01 Panel. I watched The Green Zone on blu-ray last night and I must say the dark scenes showed quite a bit of flashlighting in the corners when set to dynamic mode. I'm still on the fence about whether to keep this tv or not; but at least I'm fairly certain it has a Samsung panel. Kind of surprised to have an older panel given that it was manufactured in October 2010. Maybe that's why Sams can price them so cheap.

Got SQ01 panel in LN46C600 (the Black Friday special LOL), explains the price I paid for it.
I have a bit of a light bleeding in the lower corners, but otherwise it is pristine to my untrained eye
post #904 of 933
looking at outside of the boxes i saw sq01 aa01 aa02 and aa03 on a sticker
is that accurate to tell the panel on the new sammys 530 model lcd
which ones are better.
or am i better of geting a sony and garunteed a good panel?
hi, i have a thread going in the lcd section asking about colour banding on my la55c750. it has sq01 on the side and 55a2uf7e on the type in the service menu.

2 questions

is this the **** screen

is it a 8-bit screen or 10-bit

not sure what is going on because its got major banding and in dark scenes the shadows have little pixels flickering

any info would be appreciated

Armed with the info that this thread has given me. I phoned my retailer - RS - regarding the version of the C650 they were selling. He can only read from the label on the box and siad there was no version on the label but quoted the serial number.
Z76C3SNZB00796
Unfortunately I cannot decipher it from previous info/posts. Anyone tell what panel this is, or is the info inadequate?
Thanks

Unless things have changed the version should be somewhere on the box.
Perhaps there is more info contained in the S/N but up to now the only info I could find is it has the year and month of manufacture. That S/N indicates it
was manufactured in November.
Thanks anyway Benjamin. At least it should have the latest firmware etc. - unless that's Nov. 2009.

BTW any idea how the 750 compares PQ wise to this model. I know it's 3D (which it something that I don't need) but would pay the extra for any improvements especially SD.
Or if you was to say that all 750 have the premium screen and it's not a lottery.

Its manufactured in 2010 for sure.

There are many things that could determine what SD looks like, your cable/satellite provider, how the STB is set up or
whether you bypass the STB and receive it directly via the
RF input.

I havnt made any setting changes on my wifes C650 but
the SD picture is very good if I view it fron 10-12 feet
away.

The C750 thread may be of interest

Hi!

Sorry for my bad english, i´m german

i have a 55" 3D LED C8000 (C8790 in germany) since June. the sticker at the rear from the tv say i have a SQ01 panel.

but i have read in this forum and in one german forum and there are people they say the information on the sticker is not always right.

my C8000 was very expensive (3800 euros it´s ~ 5000 US-dollars) because samsung germany is a little bit crazy with prices. and for this expensive TV it must be a samsung panel. but one guy in this forum wrote in the C8000 thread he has a AUO panel in his C8000. can this be right??

the C8000 series is the premium series of samsung TV so i think samsung have to build in the 8000/9000 only the best panels.

how can i see what panel i have? the esiest way is to look at the rear what panel i have but i can´t see the "LTF550HQ03" - which it must be the best (and the only one in C8000)???? when I know this for sure that samsung build in the 8000 series the best samsung panels it´s okay for me, too.

and what is the "striping" in the "old" SQ01 panel??

thanks

Another Samsung story.

Bought LN46c670(BB's 650 version) a week ago. The floor model wowed me. Never gave a lot of thought to the panel because I'm the average tv watcher and not overly critical(I usually just want things to work).

Got it home, set up, what a lovely picture. I watch in a dim room, 12 feet away. Gorgeous PQ. Until I moved, I was watching Blade Runner(Dark movie), one sofa cusion to the right or left of center made the far edge turn purple/blue/gray. Standing up or sitting caused the same effect at the top or bottom. Sitting dead center 8 feet away made both edges do the same thing.

Sticker on the box said version: CN03. Same exact sticker on the back of the set(no seperate panel sticker). Whatever it is(was), it had atrocious off-angle viewing, so much so that I couldn't stand it after 4 days of changing everything in the settings and trying different calibrations many times, reading here, there, everywhere.

Took it back today and got my cash back. After getting that taken care of I went back to the display model and was able to see behind the set, it had a seperate sticker saying SQ01.

Too bad they don't sell you the same set they are dispaying, I'd still have it in all likelyhood.

i bought a LE32C530 for my parents and I couldn't see any sticker with the panel version. Nither on the TV nor on the packaging.

Someone knows the differences between trident and mstar processor in samsung 550/530?
Just got a Samsung UN55C8000 delivered this morning. Have not had a chance to view it as of yet but the sticker has panel SQ01. I guess I got lucky with the panel based on what I have read?

LN55C750 LCD has a SQ01
Recently picked up a UN32C5000 set. The version number on the back of the set (and box) say SQ01. But the panel info in the service menu has AU in it. I assume this means it is actually an AUO panel and not an Samsung panel?

Just wondering if someone can help me out on this one.

My Samsung LA46A750 had a issue with a purple line going down the screen so it was sent off for repair and came back with the report saying the replaced panel was a BN07-00612A (LTF460HC01)

Is that one of the good quality panels? I've tried looking at the stickers on the back of the Tv and can't find any S's, A's or C's

Thanks.

-edit-

I just came across this thread http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1183474

Which says that BN07-00612A (Sq01, Sq02, Ss03, Ss04), does that mean I'm safe with a "S" panel replacement?

Thanks again.

Safe from what? There are bad "S" panels, there are good "A" panels, etc. What do YOU think of it. None are perfect if you check hard enough. Enjoy the time watching TV. Agree that purple line no matter what type of panel is bad. /Dan

I was always under the impression that the "S" panels were always superior, thank you for the correction.

I just want to really know what panel they put it in, is there a sure way i can tell or at least get an idea of what kind it is?

Thanks.

I think you can look up panel information in the service menu, but don't know exactly where in menu...
And if you read this thread you'll notice the SQ panels are the most loved and CN least...

Just purchased a LN46C540 (from Walmart in Canada) and am wondering how I can tell if it's a newer AUO A-MVA3 or the older AUO A-MVA panel. Model numver on the box is LN46C540F2FXZC (not sure what the XZC is since most Samsung models don't seem to have those last three characters) and the version # is AA03, haven't had a chance to take it out of the box yet.

From what I gather the newer MVA3 panel is a significant improvement over the older one?

I have the chance still to take it back for a LN46C610 with a SQ01 or SQ03 panel but didn't want to spend the extra money. This is a secondary TV for the family room (I have a projector setup in my home theater room) so I didn't think the extra features in the C610 were worth it for that setting. That being said, I still want to get the best panel I can in the TV I did purchase.
there is a big difference in technology and picture quality between the C5xx and C6xx series...you should know which one you want first...
Naturaly I'd advise the better C6xx
I guess I shouldn't have mentioned the other TV. I just want to know how I can tell if I have a A-MVA3 or AUO A-MVA panel and how much of a difference between the two there are.
So this thread has conflicting info and I don't know which to believe. Rather than just going by the info below, is there any way to tell from the TV itself?

According to this, version AA03 which I have in my LN46C540, it's the older A-MVA panel:
http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showp...&postcount=855

However, according to this guy who seems to be pretty adament, anything after April of 2010 (based on his post date) above 40" should be the new A-MVA3 panel:
http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showt...0#post18534950
http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showt...3#post18554943

So if there is an easier way to tell I'd be ever so grateful, as a long time and diligent tech forum poster and helper, I cry uncle, I've spent at least a dozen hours the last couple days looking into this and am not that much closer to an answer, the dangers of AV (and IT) research on the internet when you care too much. Too much choice is almost a bad thing, reminds me of when I first saw the video below. Worth watching if you are someone like mewho spends way too much time researching things and then bouncing back and forth between different decisions.

Barry Schwartz on the paradox of choice

Edit: According to this, it's very possible that my AA03 panel is indeed a A-MVA3 (both AA03's mentioned are indeed the newer panel)! Great news, now to figure out how to get such a nice view of the pixel structure on my TV to confirm!

Hi,

I bought a LE46C750 and the 'version' on the sticker just says '01' - no SQ or any prefix.

My friend has the same TV yet his has 'SQ01'

Now i don't know if i'm being paranoid after reading all this, but his seems to have better blacks - in the same lighting conditions. I have tweaked and calibrated but i just dont know.

I wish i'd never seen these threads!!!
so far pretty much all Samsung LCDs with stickers 01, 02, 03, etc... have original Samsung screens...
