Just got Samsung DTB-H260F, having problems

Read lots of threads about how great it is, so decided to get one (pre-owned)... to be used with my 1080p projector/AVR receiver.

The problem is - the unit displays "week or no signal" when connected to an indoor philips antenna that I purchased just for this receiver. I called philips and the said it's a strong antenna and most likely it's defective. I then connected to the TWC cable line (which I have only for my high speed internet) and got the same ' week or no signal' message.
What I am doing wrong?

Thanks in advance.

You did a scan for AIR (antenna) channels? An indoor antenna never got me much unless you're in a real sweet spot.

You did a scan for cable channels when connected to cable? Alot will depend on what is clear in TWC.

You cannot get both at the same time, you'll need an A/B switch. Hope it came with the manual.

Yes, I did scan for both AIR and Cable and got no channels. I was not expecting to get anything since there is no signal...
I am not trying to connect both at the same time. I tried one, then the other.

You should have gotten "some" clear cable. Check the thread for your area if you haven't already. Unless it's a true internet only connection?

I just called TWC and they said I have an internet only connection. The strange thing is I get a lot of channels when I plug that cable straight to the TV.
In your opinion, an indoor antenna will not work?

Depends on their signal strength. Move the antenna to a window that's closest to a tower. If you know the digital channel, input that while connected to the antenna. If your tv gets channels, so should the samsung. Check the listing in the menu and use those when connected to the cable. Antenna Web or TVFool should be able to give you an indication of signal strength and direction for your position. Also posting in the Samsung thread or the Antenna thread may get the attention of some more knowledgeable.

It can, and often will, if the signal is sufficent where the antenna is sitting.

To see how strong signals are at your house, enter your address at: http://www.tvfool.com/index.php?opti...pper&Itemid=29
Copy the link to the results page and post it back here. Your address will not display on the results page.

When connected to TWC, you should get at least local HD, in QAM format. Check the menu setting for what type of signal to use. You'll want cable.

If you are not getting any channels when scanning the cable and you are sure that you selected scan cable.
This sounds like an issue with the box you stated that if you plug the cable directly into the TV you get channels!

Good luck with it but do a re-scan and make sure you chose cable.
Can you get your money back if this is the case.

I am not getting anything when scanning for Air or Cable... (well when I go into guide, I see a channel line-up but 'Not Available' for programming.

Also, based on TVFool, I should be getting lots of channels with an indoor antenna and I'm getting 'No signal'.

Maybe something in the Samsung setup?

Just to make sure that I'm scanning channels correctly, this is my navigation -
menu ->channel->Auto Program->Select Antennas to memorize-> Air/Cable.

Is this the right way to do it?

You should be able to get at least some of the station in green, on your TVFool results, using an indoor antenna. If you get none at all, something's wrong with either your antenna/connection or the settings in the menu. Or the box is defective.
