"It feels no pity or remorse for Teal haters"
that is quite a bit of teal.

I can live with the blue. But a lack of mono would be a deal breaker.

Unless somehow they redo the 5.1 mix to simulate the mono mix.

Color alterations don't really bother me too much, but if the blues in T2 ever turn into teal, that might be raping my childhood.

T2 needs that blue. Not so sure what they should do with T1 as that films needs something but it needs to be ever so subtle.

In defense Alien had a nasty ass red push before. I agree it could have been more subtle but these people obviously live by the sea? and we can't help but support them in their drive to make everything sea green. I kid I kid.

Anyway, it is more than obvious none of these guys want that 80s red push in their films anymore.

"But the Aliens remaster which was 100% supervised by Jim Cameron (one of, if not THE most talented filmmaker ever) is flawless. This is a statement piece and a showcase of what modern technology can do to a 25 year old film.

Yes, there is a teal push to make it look a bit more modern. But this new color timing is significantly superior to what was done in 1986 in every possible way. The talk that it hardly has any other colors besides teal is complete nonsense and is laughable at best.

Everything else with the transfer is perfection, film like grain, moderate DNR, no EE, no black crush, etc. And amazing lossless original soundtrack.

Of all the classic films that have been mistreated over the years, you guys have the nerve to pick on this one?"

I tend to agree with this though saying this guy is the most talented filmmaker ever is pretty much heresy. This guy has a ton of awful films imo and even when they are great they offer no reflection on society or high art or anything like that. I will just hope you meant filmmaker as in the guy on the grounds creating a rich film world or something. His action films are definitely pretty great but in no way does this guy even exist in my top 20 directors. That is only my opinion though.

I am still pissed at how he ruined The Abyss with that ending from gotdamn hell. If he could have only left us with the guy sinking into the abyss and then maybe nothing or anything really than what he did to that film. I refuse to watch it ever again. I loved 98% of it but that 2% kills me to the heart.

It is not real grain you know, right?

Looking good NagysAudio

Does nobody like natural color anymore? Jesus christ.

And for the curious, a good article giving some explanation for why this keeps happening:

Has anyone considered that the NEW Terminator transfer is simply the old one from 2001 with Teal, fake grain, and some selective edge enhancement.
This is what Reliance/Lowry does, thats hows they does it.

Ahahaha, that new color grading is 100% awful, just horrendous.

I mean, honestly:

That's insane. It looks like someone just tossed a bucket of teal paint over the image.

That shot with the new colour grading is so much better than the old pink shifted nonsense.

New version looks beautiful.

I'd like a hit or two or whatever you're smoking.

The new version has such an insane teal bias that in that shot I linked literally every single color is a variant of teal. There is no flesh tone to speak of, just teal. No white, no black - just teal. It's ridiculous looking.

I mean, it just looks terrible. I'm not that worried about it personally as I was never a big fan of the film but I feel bad for the fans who were anticipating this release. The teal bias just looks textbook unnatural and bad.

That's during the Police station assault where all the lights have gone. (Plus it's a very lossy pic).

The below shot is whilst the lights are still working

Goddamn, just dig that awesomeness. I can't for the actual blu ray to arrive.
The shot from the Police station seems to be the only good scene. Almost all the others looked as they where scrubbed from grain. Has Cameron really supervised this?

YouTube got lucky on that frame. You absolutely cannot judge detail/grain quality from YouTube, the low bitrate streaming is what is scrubing the grain away. But that teal isn't going anywhere...

The low bit rate is killing the quality.

Not to mention that good shot (from police station) has a much larger file size compared to the lights out police station shot.

I prefer this new colour grade.cool.gif
I think the new color grade looks awesome. Just like Aliens. I hate the 80's red push.

That's true, and it gives the weird impression the teal helps hide the ugly grain of the U.S. release.
However, there does appear to be greater detail in some of the shots.

Definitely a love/hate release....
For the people who love it, look at the front of the truck, all the detail is lost!

I don't know what's sadder. That you two have been doing the same reach-around act on a certain other site, or the fact that you joined here, just to do the same thing.

It's not real love, ya know?
Sometimes you have to settle in both love and transfers
post #297 of 541
Who did the screenshot comparisons? Who wasted their time with it? Who is being the Cameron/Lowry defence force? Also credibility?! Trololol

I seriously doubt a non YouTube actual bluray shot will fix that black crush

I don't know what you're trying to get at.

Surely, if the same user posts across different sites then it is to be expected that said person's opinion will be the same. Right?

Different personalities for different sites? Is that the cool thing to do?
