post #1 of 7
Thread Starter
hey guys,
i don't know if there is a thread already, if there is i can't find it.

anyways, i just can't connect my ps3 to the internet.
i just got it, it's the new one, 120gig.

i have Dodo wireless broadband dongle thing, wired router and an ethernet cable.
oh, and my computer is real old so it doesnt have an ethernet port in it, anywhere.

i've tried so many things, from manually putting in everything, sharing the internet file thingo.
but NOTHING seems to work.

if you have any ideas please tell me.

thanks in advance,
volly

I don't know if Dodo will work with the PS3. Did you run the ethernet cable from the router directly to the PS3?

Could you be more specific on how you have everything connected? What's the make and model of the router?

Someone else can correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think that the PS3 will work with a USB wireless adapter (assuming that's what that is.)

Connect directly using a wired ethernet connection if that is an option for you.

the router is a THOMSON speedtouch 510
i think its old?

currently, ive got a phone cable thing connecting the router to the computer, then an ethernet cable from the router to the ps3.

i'd have an ethernet cable go straight from the computer to ps3 but the computer doesnt have anywhere i can plug it in to, hence the router.

it gets the IP address fine, but then this stupif DNS server error 80710104 or 80710102
depending on what settings it is.

i really want to get online ):

It should be:

- computer -> router

and

- ps3 -> router

Router should have 4 ethernet ports in the back. I bet yah the ps3 IP address is 169.x.x.x?

Cable modem/DSL -> (WAN port) Router -> PS3, Computer (Each connected to each LAN port).

I'm not familiar with Dodo firsthand, but from what I've read, you must be using a 3G USB modem. If this is the case, you will need a USB router like the one linked below. Unfortunately, you also say that your computer doesn't have an ethernet port. You will need to get an ethernet card or a wireless adapter for it (of course the USB router you choose will need to support wireless as well then).

Wish I could be more help. Maybe you should call Dodo tech support.
