That was sure to be the big joke for all the late night talk show monologues and you just ruined it. Big trouble for you mister!

Nonetheless, the Peter Berg-directed film's low $25.5 million domestic bow has caused industry anxiety as well as speculation -- apparently unfounded -- about the future of the executive regime at Universal. A top NBCUniversal source says there will be no management changes at the studio, though sources say it likely will lose $150 million on the movie.

I also wonder if and how this will impact Taylor Kitsch's career. Are folks in Hollywood superstitious?

I'll just sit over here in the corner. Let me know when time out is over.

Our oldest daughter dragged us to see this on Memorial Day and in a way it was appropriate given the inclusion of the U.S.S. Missouri. But by the end I was embarrassed for the old Navy veterans given roles in this movie. There are so many factual things wrong with this film but evidently none of this bothered the scriptwriters or director. If you've seen this flick you know what I mean. Was it entertaining? Sort of - like watching an expensively made B movie crash and burn - who dreams up this stuff? Peter Berg took a page out of the Michael Bay playbook and directed a copycat movie, right down to the 'looks' of the female romantic interest and the suspension of ALL belief.

Nice picture, but what are your thoughts on the film?

Don't look at me. I'm watching the "double feature" if you get my drift.

Sunken ‘Battleship’ Underlines Q2 Loss for Universal
Quote:
Universal Studios Aug. 1 reported a second-quarter (ended June 30) operating cash flow loss of $83 million compared with operating cash flow of $27 million during the previous-year period, primarily driven by the underperformance of theatrical release Battleship.

Yeah, I don't think keeping to any "facts" was high on their priority list for this movie. tongue.gif

I haven't seen it yet, but the trailers make the film look like a CGI orgasm.

For some reason, it seems like the public these days (unlike the 40s and 50s) rarely goes for movies featuring Navy ships and such.
Few are made and fewer are hits....

The same thing was said of Pirates movies a couple of years ago. You can basicly make a movie on any theme, the trick is to make a good one.

LOL - they can wrap it up in a diamond encrusted platinum case - the movie still is nothing more than a massive failure.

Well, that's like being the thinnest kid at fat camp. You're still at fat camp for a reason. tongue.gif

I think if you like explosions and eye candy and aren't hung up on things like logic, it's pretty much what it is. LOW expectations, is what I'm saying.

I may hold off until you've watched it and given your review.

Lol. I wouldn't use those two movies as benchmarks. But I enjoyed all three Transformers... yes, even the second one. And isn't this basically Transformers 4?

Hey i was told it wasn't the best so i thought of those two. They are benchmark for the most silliest movies made.

You'd be the most caring individual I know, then. tongue.gif

And I don't mean low expectations, I mean LOW expectations. Like, never seen a movie of any kind before expectations. It's not horrible, but it is horribly dumb.

I couldnt believe how bad this movie really was....and my tolerance for bad movies is very high!
I actually sat through and watched Megasaurus vs. Crocosaurus on SYFY last night for the second time, but I wouldnt sit through
Battleship again.

They really blew it. If they had inserted just one gratuitous frontal nude scene with Brooklyn Decker, they would have guarenteed many repeat viewings and had the highest grossing movie of the year. tongue.gif She's young and just breaking into the movies - this was the time to gently tell her to "take one for the team" (and give her a small cut of the gross as a reward). Otherwise, why even bother to cast her in the first place? Stunt casting needs to pay off somehow.

LOL - instead they give us bad-singer-trying-to-act, go figure, she's not even pretty. I still haven't seen it by the way, I'm waiting for the Blu-ray (renting, not buying! wink.gif)
I decided to go for it tonight instead. Hopefully i will enjoy. eek.gif

I actually enjoyed it, I found it a fun film to watch ( I guess that's what happens when you go in with low expectations ) I could watch it again. The Audio was awesome.
