If not it would be one hell of a wasted opportunity!

So did Michael Bay direct this or is he involved. Alot of scenes from the trailer look like something he had his hands in

well fiction is fiction i guess.

They really could have just used the "Battleship" as any ship equiped for war, but those big guns will rock the LFE. Maybe another woofer for the home theater will be justified.
From what I picked up on the trailer there was at least one of the boarding crew who will be inside the alien craft. The Stargate crew used to bring down mother ships from inside regularly so the human race will have a chance.

It's common knowledge that any act of human sabotage on an alien spacecraft, no matter how small, will result in the complete destruction of the whole ship as tiny explosions rumble, grow and spread through the entire craft until it's engulfed in flames and finally explodes in a really cool fireball. This procedure also works to destroy the high-tech lairs of megalomaniacs bent on ruling the world. Really, it's our ace in the hole.

I sure hope these alien spaceships are Apple-compatible, so we can re-use the old computer virus from Independence Day.

Mr Emmerick chose badly as usual

The PowerBook 5300 was Apple's first PowerBook based on a PowerPC CPU. Due to problems with the original (flaming) LithIon battery (which was recalled before it reached the consumer market), plastic chipping from the case, and poor performance (among other things), we label it a Compromised Mac. (It was also the butt of a lot of jokes.)

Hollywood just loves Apple products, especially the last decade or so, and frankly which model of that brand was used is irrelevant for most us non geeks.

Between the "dinosaurs" of the evil army with weapons - what makes people have a headache and A transformation Battleship spectacular eve broadcast, I'm sold. All I need now is to hear that someone dramatically shouts "You sunk my battleship" and I'll go to Amazon and preorder the bluray after buying my movie tickets.

My brain hurt just reading the thread title, so I didn't bother reading the rest.

Isn't this like the third thread Battleship has had now? IBTL!

EDIT: I see they've now been merged.

Well, here are the "homages" to the game that instantly made me go "blech":

Some elements from the Battleship board game were integrated into the film:

* The alien ships' missiles are shaped like the pegs from the board game and "sink" into the ship.
* The alien force field corresponds to the barrier between the sides of the board version of the game.
* The buoys form a grid similar to the board game's layout.
* The sailors use the hit or miss guessing method from the game.

Skyline may have been a dopey excuse to show off special effects, but at least it didn't pretend to be anything else.

How can anyone tell. All these films resemble those cheap plastic pacifiers your mom used to poke in your mouth when you were 6 months old. You were too stupid to know the difference between the one you almost swallowed and the new one that just came out of the drawer. You just kept sucking on them until you finally recognized food.

Whew! I thought it was just me. When watching the trailer some time back at the theater, the first thing I thought was, "Man, those graphics are a dead ringer for the ones in G.I. Joe." And I all know how we loved that movie.

And one more review:

http://www.slate.com/articles/arts/m...reviewed_.html

This one line sums it up, "After seeing it all I can remember is that it's about battleships, and is based on the board game Battleship, and is about a lot of ships that...battle."
I seemed to have missed this one-

It couldn't be any more stupid than Battleship.
Just an awful, awful mess of a movie....
It is so bad, that I found myself laughing at it out of sheer frustration.

This takes the meaning of Dumb Popcorn Movie to another level....Ugggggh!
"Universal’s Battleship took in an estimated $9 million from its 3,690 locations for a projected $26 million first weekend. Not only is that well below expectations for the pricey live-action boardgame, it’s also less than John Carter earned for its debut back in March. Draw your own conclusions."
It has already made more money then John Carter did on the international market.
Will rent, but the wife might boss sweet-talk me into going to the theater...
