9 disc set. December 15. Mel Brooks. Blu-ray. Fox Catalogs(no DNR now/high bitrate).
Best of all...something to put next to the Planet of the Apes Box. Score.

Will Blazing Saddles be the Warner BD or will Fox encode their own?

I'm glad I held off on Space Balls. Now to get back the $10 I spent on Blazzing Saddles and Young Frankenstein.

High Anxiety is the only one with any appeal to me (I have some of the others on DVD).

Recently re-watched some of these and...well...the humor has gone stale.
Spaceballs is especially lame...

Thank the maker! Someone out there can see that Mel Brooks just ISN'T funny..

Not sure why movies like Spaceballs and Blazing Saddles are considered cult. They're just awful!

Edit: This is of course just my opinion.. please put down your flamethrower if you enjoy these titles.

Seriously though. I already have Blazing Saddles and Spaceballs, but I will gladly pick this set up. Heck, Robin Hood Men in Tights ans History of the World are great films that I'd love to see on BD!

I believe that often comedy doesn't hold as well as some other types of films. So much of the works were parodies of current subjects that are simply of no importance now. Like Chevy Chase falling down on Saturday Night Live because Ford tripped it just in't funny now.

This is GREAT news for me. I've at the very least been wanting High Anxiety.

For anyone who wants to dump their current BDs, Blazing Saddles, Young Frankenstein and Spaceballs presently hold decent trade-in values at Amazon.

Agreed, that's a MASSIVE disappointment. This set looks like the standard-def box-set Fox put out a few years ago -- but minus THE PRODUCERS. Given that Fox distributes MGM's product now, how hard would it have been to include it?

It'll be the same disc. When Fox did their Brooks set on DVD years back, they included the exact DVD Warner put out (the first one, not even the remastered one!). I'd say there's no chance it'll be a different encode.

And for $139 retail, I'll be skipping this until the price drops big-time, especially given that THE PRODUCERS isn't included.

If anything I think it's gotten better with age, along with Blazing Saddles. HOTWP1 has lost a little something overs, but is still great IMO.

I already got HOTWP1 from Japan, so along with already owning BS, Spaceballs and YF, I guess I'll just try to get a hold of High Anxiety separately somehow.

YF scores points for using lab props from the original movie. It really is his best film, too bad it was so long ago.

But yeah, the problem is that some of his humor is on society/trends of the day. It's a little like Looney Tunes. Most people don't get the Senator Claghorn reference in Foghorn Leghorn as an example.

It would be nice if they would release these seperately, but it's Mel so I'll buy it.

My biggest guilty pleasure ever... History of the World Pt 1.

He may have made better movies but I still bust a gut when I watch it.
I can't wait to see a true HD version.
All the ones I have had have been mastered from the old laser disc (never saw the last DVD release).
