Well you sure did your best to build it up....until it fell through. Now you "have no plans to do it" as if Gefen will be asking you to??? Come on, it was a no-go from the beginning and you know it.

Exactly how did I "build" it up? Trust me, Gefen would love to have me work on it with them. They are still "stuck" and I am smart enough to avoid a "trainwreck" when I see one. Let's face it, with the amount of input options it was doomed from the start...

Wow, you must really be concerned about a Gefen product hanging out in a DVDO thread. I thought you were still in love with your Denon VP? Makes sense...

Oh and "for the record" I have not heard from them since August. That was the last I spoke with them about the VP in question... That is all I can say about it... And that is all I will...

I don't know what your problem is... I think I know why many reviewers don't hang out in forums anymore... What do you want? I don't review pre production units. The gefen is not even close to coming out. End of story.
For now on I won't be making any comments about what I am up to. If it weren't for another review I posted a month or so(which showed a pic of the DUO) nobody would have knew I had one...

Just another reason I have been hanging out less and less here...

Ah why is joerod getting hassled? I look forward to reading his reviews. Who cares about the other products this is the Duo thread let's leave it as the duo thread.

Hey as long as we are in the controversy mode here is what I think is the current state of video processing. All VP not as capable and expensive as a VP50 or not as cheap as a decent chip in a player, AVR or display is not worth the money.

What I'd like to know is, if you used the Duo with an Oppo 83 running Source Direct output with 4:3 material and was the OAR maintained to the display? This is one complaint I have about the 83/EDGE combo. Take your time, though.

That's an easy one. Yes, it is maintained with AR Auto set to on.

I do have one comment about this statement:


PReP cannot undo scaling, just deinterlacing. So in this scenario, PReP is undoing 1080i deinterlacing which never happened, so I would argue that you would be better off with a DVD player that output 480i like the Oppos (DVD and BD players).

Actually what I mean is the Blu ray player sending in 480i versus it sending in 1080p and the DUO using PreP on it.

PReP is never used if the source material is 480i and the player is sending 1080p.

That's not what I mean. And I explain what PreP is in the front end of my review. I tried to clean it up a little so it makes sense. The player sending in 480i versus it sending 1080p and the DUO doing PreP (on 1080p only of course)...

If this is what you mean there will be no PReP.

480i -> 480p -> 1080p -> DUO

I give up. I meant the player sending straight 480i and the DUO sending 1080p (without PreP) versus the player sending in 1080p (on its own) and there being PreP... I edited that part so it makes sense now.
