Im currently putting together a family project for a living HT. We just painted the walls last night dark grey and need to know if painting the wall for a screen is one of the best options. Currently looking into either building a screen but dont know where to get the material and how much? Paint that I would go with would be the RS-MaxxMudd or SF, whatever is best for alittel ambient light. My third option would be to buy a pull down screen and use my 52 LCD for regular viewing. Who makes a good pulldown screen? Im wondering how many people use there projectors for there day to day tv? I have alittle light coming through but not much. I would rather use the FP and put the 52 in my bedroom. Im also wondering how big of a screen to go with? Looking into a 100" or 106" diagonal screen with viewing distance at 13'. Is that to big or should I go bigger? The room is 16' wide and 13' long. The projector im considering would be a Epson 8500 UB, Epson 8100 or AE3000. First time building a HT so if I left anything out let me know. Thanks.

Forgot to mention the only reason im doing a screen under $200 is because we are buying a house in about a year or more. Once we buy a house ill have a dediacated HT room.

I use my HT for the majority of my day to day television viewing, video games, movies... everything. My hT is completely light controlled, however.

Paint is a decent option if your wall has no imperfections.

Some manual pull-down options can be found here in your price range (check other retailers as well): http://www.projectorpeople.com/screens/chart_manual.asp

Some people use Wilsonart designer white laminante for a DIY screen material and build velvet wrapped frame around it.

Others go the acoustically transparent route using screen material from SeymourAV which lets them put the speakers behind the screen. Other cheaper options here also include blackout cloth (BOC) and Dazian Celtic Cloth.

Check out the DIY screen forum as well: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/forumdisplay.php?f=110
