PM sent your way since he is picking his up right now. Would hate for you to miss this deal. Hopefully he does not mind that I am doing that.

Share away...in fact, now that I've got mine (hehe):

Here is the info. Call Doug at 303-995-6279.

http://denver.craigslist.org/sys/1618273968.html

They just completed a project for Sun (Blackbox) and had left overs. He said they have some other racks too.

Awesome! Picking mine up tonight.

Holy cow! That was not a one man operation!

I got the one he unwrapped for the photo so it would fit in my car. The rest are still shrinkwrapped. Let me tell you, 76.25" is all that would fit in my Acura MDX. The hatch latched, but wouldn't close all the way.

I got it home and was able to manuever it up the garage stairs, through the hall, and down the stairwell into the basement. Note - not a one man job. Well, I did it myself. But there were two times I though I'd lose it down the stairs. Good thing I have enough leverage.

Here it is in its close to final resting place. I'll have to reframe but I'm cool with that.

hehe, you must be the guy he said it would barely fit in his SUV when I called him...

His words: "I'll let YOU close that"

That's a great find!

Congrats.

Nice! How you man-handled that alone is beyond me!

Now go and be at one with your rack, Young Grasshopper.

Thanks guys - dumb luck, but I'm glad he had a bunch so the locals can gobble them up.

It was almost beyond me and into a nicely finished wall.

I think tonight I'd rather be at one with the Captain, Advil, and my back. You know, like you previously suggested:

Went to pick my rack up this afternoon. Nice deal! Thanks again for the heads up.

By the way, he mentioned that the price went up now.
He better not change it for me, or I'll walk away.

He said he would not. I mentioned you and he said you were the last one for that price. You can mention me by name, Ernie.

Sweet, I was going to go today, but the wife needed the car tonight, so I will try tomorrow.

He just changed the Craigslist price to $200. Glad you guys could get in at $100.

When I looked at the link you posted yesterday, it was $200. I thought THAT was a good deal. To get it for $100 was a steal!

I called this morning and am picking it up at lunch. He is going to honor the $100 amount since I called him on Monday. He sounded like he wasn't, but then gave in.

I don't know how many he will sell at $200 or how long it would take. Sure it is still a very good deal. But it wouldn't spark me to immediately take the long drive up north (and back). I'd keep shopping. But that's why my wife calls me cheap (I prefer frugal).

I'm sure if new buyers had a hundred in their hand he'd take it anyway - even if he really wanted $200. I actually thought about asking for $10 off since mine wasn't in the shrink wrap!
When he gets 3 calls in one day he decided to look up what they go for online. He realized he was to low and since it was a hot commodity he raised the price. I don't think he is going to get more sells right away.

But hey no biggie.

Ok, so I've been researching Sonosub designs and came across the one below. MAN that sub is 9' tall!

Here is the thread at another site | Here is the photobucket album

We have faux columns on the main floor and I previously thought about doing some like Indygreg's theater entrance - even though it is not Zen.

If I did column sonosubs flanking the screen it would look similar to his screenwall:

Another shot of the columns flanking the doors and soffit treatment:

I may or may not incorporate "column subs" in my design. If I did something like those the design would probably change to be more of a mini version of Indygreg's awesome room.

Good thing I have a long time to think about this decision.

Are you going to have access to the back of your rack?

Yes. To the right of the rack will be a door that is the entrance to the mechanical room. The rest of the rack will be exposed in that room.
I'm just going to throw this out but I don't think the columns will necessarily fit into your theme. Especially that big. I am going to use 20" sonotubes but in half for my side pillars and bass absorbers though.

You are correct - that sonosub build made me contemplate a complete change in theme. I don't know how long I'll contemplate for, but it is tempting. Maybe it's the way the girl is hugging the sub.
First off excellent thread and your theme is great. Regarding the sonotube sub, if you were truly "one with the build" would you not have seen this coming????? Hey it is just a question. Keep up the great work and if you go the DIY subwoofer route be sure to document everything.

Very interested to see this theater come to be. Good luck or karma or what ever it is!

Regards,

RTROSE

The master welcomes existential questions. There is no future, only the present. So yes, I saw the SonoSub coming.

Thanks - I'll try. Oh wait, there is no try...man, I'm getting my religons mixed up again. Where's Jinn when I need him.

Luck...some of you may have read this before.

Quote:

A farmer had a horse but one day, the horse ran
away and so the farmer and his son had to plow
their fields themselves. Their neighbors said, "Oh,
what bad luck that your horse ran away!" But the
farmer replied, "Bad luck, good luck, who knows?"

The next week, the horse returned to the farm,
bringing a herd of wild horses with him. "What
wonderful luck!" cried the neighbors, but the farmer
responded, "Good luck, bad luck, who knows?"

Then, the farmer's son was thrown as he tried to
ride one of the wild horses, and he broke his
leg. "Ah, such bad luck," sympathized the neighbors.
Once again, the farmer responded, "Bad luck,
good luck, who knows?"

A short time later, the ruler of the country
recruited all young men to join his army for battle.
The son, with his broken leg, was left at home.
"What good luck that your son was not forced into
battle!" celebrated the neighbors. And the farmer
remarked, "Good luck, bad luck, who knows?"

So is RTROSE's well wishing going to bring me good luck? Bad luck? Who knows?
