Guys I have trolled these forums for many years and I finally have decided that there is a question that I have to ask because I don't see an answer already posted. A buddy of mine has a HTPC running Vista 64 Ultimate edition and he asked for my advice in picking out a tuner card. He already had two 7950 graphics cards for gaming but he wanted to use the tunercard to bring in TV shows to Windows Media Center. I went with him and helped him pick out a VisionTek TV Wonder HD 650 at the local Fry's. We installed it and everything is working as advertised (i.e. guide, local HD channels, etc.). The issue is though that unlike when his antenna is plugged directly into the back of his TV while using the tuner card the video playback stutters every minute or so and it is barely watchable. I did not think it was a hardware issue because the rig has a Tripple Core Phenom Processor and 4GB of lighting quick RAM. Games all run at max settings, 1080p movies run great from the hard drive or disk but the video stuttering like I said before is pretty unbearable. Could it be possible that this is a side effect of some type of HDCP or an issue with the Nvida GPU not playing nice with the ATI tuner? I have yet to find a solution to this delima so any help would be greatly appreciated.
