The part about Harmon and Chevy came from another discussion site similar to this one. Not sure which entertainment/gossip site they got it from. The part about Neil Goldman and Garrett Donovan leaving for FOX has been widely reported.

You can still link to it but If it isn't a valid source it's not worth mentioning at all.

This just in, Alison Brie is leaving Community and being replaced by Christina Ricci as her long lost sister! 100% true, my unnamed sources tell me.

Amusing how reporting a rumor gets your panties in such a twist.

From Deadline Hollywood (the same people that reported on Community getting a short season days ahead of everyone else):

With the renewal secured, the question Community faces heading into its fourth season is whether it will return with both creator/showrunner Dan Harmon and co-star Chevy Chase on board. There has been a well documented feud between the two, raising speculation whether they could continue to work together or one would step down. I hear it is unclear as of now whether Harmon will continue as showrunner. That is a possibility, with other scenarios also explored.

Dan's tweet in response to the rumor:
Guys, if I "didn't come back," it wouldn't be because Chevy's a prick. That'd be like punching a wall because water's wet. Now CELEBRATE!

I thought a short order meant that the net leaves open the option of ordering the back nine later. How's that for some mangled TV biz jargon? Anyway, we could still end up w/ 22 episodes next season.

Doug

Problem with that could be a season/series finale at episode 13, and then back to normal at episode 14. NBC's going to need to see how all their new shows fare before ordering more of 30 Rock/Community.

As for last night's show, loved it. Jeff slapping Troy was great, and I loved Troy And Abed In The Morning:Nights. Not a big fan of what they're doing with Abed though. His freakout sound is more annoying and unnecessary than Troy's.

Joel and Chevy presented at the Comedy Awards and made a joke of it, so I'm assuming everything is fine.

Joel made a joke out of it, and it appeared to me that Chevy honestly tried to say that everything was cool now. The fact is though that someone is leaking to deadline that there's actual talks now about removing one or the other, or neither. I'm sure it doesn't help that they lost two other show runners this week.

I'm really looking forward to the season finale! It looks like they are set up for an epic showdown with Chang.

I think they usually order the back nine after they see how the first few fare, so there's time to plan out the entire season. Maybe not...

"When I see Chevy and [me] together, I can only think of one thing -- teamwork. What an absolute joy it is to work alongside a comic legend. And I know all those pratfalls are because of an inoperable tumor."-Joel McHale

"Joel McHale is a brilliant actor who has a horrible eating disorder." -Chevy Chase

Quotes from their joint Comedy Awards presentation. Thinking Harmon & his cast are enjoying playing up the "feud".

If you had bothered to report the rumor it would have actually been helpful. Just saying something doesn't mean anything. Either link to a reputable source or don't mention it. That way it's actually news and saves other people having to ask where the (dis)information comes from.

More Chalkboard/Dry Erase board hilarity from this episode. I wish that someone from the production team would collect them and post them on a website, because its hard to catch all of them, especially when some of the words aren't legible or in frame (I watch on a 124" 1080p projector, via OTA, so I'm pretty sure I'm getting the best PQ I can get from this show).

Here's the one from the scene where Troy rode into the room on the ATV:

Quote:

1. (can't tell, off screen, but presumably about meth)
2. It can lead to permanent buzz kill.
3. It could cause them to need meds the rest of their life.
4. Meth can turn present fun into future numb.
5. It turned Star Burns into Star Burned

So if someone offers to tell you a "meth time story"... Pass.

If grieving you is wrong, I don't want to be right" - C. Hawk Bored

Annie: You can't bring that in here!
Troy: Yes I can! It's "all terrain", dummy.
Troy's delivery of the all-terrain vehicle line was my favorite of the night. Also loved Shirley's reaction to seeing the gun-shaped hole in a library book.

Community being moved to Fridays at 8 in September paired with Whitney. No contract yet for Dan Harmon.
I can buy Whitney on Friday (even though I was hoping it would have been canned), but this is horrible news as to Community. I've saying they should move Community off the Thursday lineup and avoid the match up with the Big Bang Theory, BUT not to Friday. They claim this is not a "final season order" for Community, but it's almost as if they want to cancel it but they don't want critics to bash them for doing so. So Community gets a 13 ep "season" on Fridays and then NBC will probably quietly can the show.

Sucks, but I guess such is life for a show that is too "high-concept" for the masses.
Fringe survived for what amounts to two whole seasons on Fridays at 9:00--the death slot. This isn't a vote of confidence, but it's not necessarily a death sentence.
More from Bob Greenblatt at NBC:

Like 30 Rock, Community was picked up for 13 episodes and is being moved to the Friday 8 PM slot where NBC sent Chuck for its final 13-episode season last fall. The Office was renewed for 22 episodes. Asked whether Community creator Dan Harmon will return as showrunner next season, Greenblatt said, I expect his voice to be part of it, adding that it is still unclear if that will be in his current role or as a consultant. Greenblatt dismissed the notion that the discussion about Harmon possibly stepping down from day-to-day oversight of the show stems from his ongoing feud with co-star Chevy Chase, saying that there are larger factors beyond that.
I think Grimm works pretty well on Fridays. Community might as well.

NBC's continuing fascination with Whitney I continue to find very baffling.
Doesn't matter what day they throw this show on. Those who want to watch it (like us) will still watch it. And not just on the day it airs, but at least one or two times a week after it airs, like I have been with each of the last five or so eps.
Moving the show to Fridays doesn't bother me.

If the Harmon rumor is true - *THAT* would bother me. I'd rather they dump Chase. If the rumor is true.
This is the age of the DVR, time and day of the week no longer matter to me.

Indeed. When I recommend a show to someone, they often ask me "what channel is it on, and when?" I have a hard time answering those questions anymore, though I can usually remember that it's an NBC show, or HBO, etc.

And like FRINGE & FOX, NBC may be content w/ COMMUNITY's numbers on Friday as long as they hold relatively steady. I think timeslot is certainly one of the factors that led FOX to renew FRINGE after cancelling other series that had technically better numbers (not to mention WB probably gave FOX the last 13 FRINGE eps for close to nothing in the hopes of recouping $$ later on in syndication/disc sales)

Yes, get it away from BIG BANG THEORY. And yes, put it on 30 minutes prior to FRINGE over @ FOX....my fall Fridays look to have just gotten better!

But ratings are still heavily day and time slot (and matchup to other shows, such as competing against Big Bang Theory) dependent, and ratings are a big factor in determining if a show comes back, so even in the age of the DVR, time and day of the week matter to you (if Community gets horrible ratings on Fridays [could very well happen], the show will be canned, whether you DVR it or not). It only doesn't matter in the very strict sense of when you personally watch a program (Although they always say that ratings now include "Same day DVR" views, so if you are not watching on the same day, you aren't getting that view counted.
