Onkyo cs was no help with this and the website was ambiguous:
I'm trying to determine if the features like Dual Push-Pull, Independent Block Construction, and the Toroidal Transformer are worth even considering.
The website shows the 1007 and the 5007 to have the Dual Push Pull but in parenthesis it says (single). The cs rep says this means that there are NOT matched pairs of transistors. Yet, for the 3007, it appears as if it does not have this feature at all!! There is an "x" in that column. This does not make sense-the 3007 should have everything that the 1007 has and then some.
Does the independent block construction offer anything (reliability, better sound, etc)? The 1007 does not have this, the other 2 do.
Only the 5007 has the torroidal-for all I know a convential transformer is just as good. Sony ES never went torroidal and sometimes those suckers can hum. Any real world advantage to the torroidal.
The 32 bit DACs have been mentioned-is there any further info as to who makes them, quality, etc.?
I plan to buy one of these, I know you like the 1007 but you didn't get into the specific differences and what they mean in terms of reliability, heat, sound quality, etc.
