More important, will these have forced subtitles like TF1 releases?

Any chance their Evil Dead 2 will look any better than the domestic release?

That is the million dollar question.

No, I don't think so. They're region B.

I have no insider info. on these particular releases, but I am pretty much certain they will have forced French subtitles. It's a contract thing in France. Apparently, only majors (Warner, Paramount, Universal) have the right to distribute BDs (and DVDs) without forced subtitles; from what I heard, there's practically no legal way around it. That's one of the reasons why many of my BDs come from other countries (though I live in France).

Is that confirmed? Do you have them?

Looks like I'll be waiting for a review.

No, I don't have them. But according to a few french review sites I read regularly, they are...

http://www.dvdfr.com/dvd/f151398-eli...-age-d-or.html

http://www.dvdfr.com/dvd/f151405-traffic.html

I still hope I'm wrong... Each time I go to Paris, I verify a few titles in stores and they're region-locked. I bought 2 Universal titles that were supposed to be region-free, but they don't play on my BD-30, at all.

That site has listed them as Region B since they've been added. They're about as accurate as Amazon. I'd love to hear from someone who actually picked them up!

Really? I'm surprised, I guess. I thought that, since they're affiliated with Universal, that they'd be region-free.

Though these titles have been officially released on the 22nd, practically no store has them yet in Paris; the only exception is "Good morning, England", which is rather easy to find since yesterday. I located one store which got a few copies of most titles (absent were Traffic, Universal Soldier and Baghdad Cafe). I bought Mission to Mars. This title is marked as locked Region B on the jacket and so are the other titles I checked, if memory serves (I only had a short time to browse through the many recent arrivals that were not even on display yet). As far as the subtitles go, I'l tell you as soon as I play my disc.

What do you mean? Have the new French Studio canal titles been released in the UK? I looked on a couple of UK sites, and I did not see them.

Just checking in...

I guess no one picked them up?

Picked up Ils myself. Region B locked with only French subs, so not English friendly.
