Recommend a receiver for my active monitors (HT)

I currently have my KRK Rokit5's connected to my TV's RCA outs and am controlling the system volume via the cable box internal volume control. This works fine but I have no way to control the volume when playing a game on XBOX360, watching a streaming movie on the XBOX, or playing a BluRay on my Sony PS3.

Can I get some recommendations to decent receivers that have pre-outs? Furthermore, I have the XBOX on component, cable box on HDMI, and PS3 on HDMI and I trust this should be mentioned when choosing the right receiver.

Found another post and it looks like this reciever would work wonderfully. Is there something like this with TrueHD etc?

And a link to my monitors for reference sake:

Thanks a bunch for any advice!

None of the Sony AVRs would work, they don't have pre-outs. The cheapest I know of is the Yamaha 663 (last year, 2 HDMI inputs) or the 665 from this year (4 HDMI input).

Onkyo you could look at the 706 refurbished from shoponkyo or accessories4less.

The feature you want is on more expensive units. Most don't use active speakers.

I agree with mbyrnes, however it sounds like you might be alright with a receiver that simply has a headphone output (if you're only using 2 speakers). Then you could use a much cheaper receiver and these two devices to connect to your speakers:

Note: A headphone out isn't exactly the same thing as a line out (which is what you have been using) or a preamp out (which is what I think you probably should be using), so I'm not guaranteeing this will work 100%.

I just got done doing a bunch of research and found myself torn between these exact two receivers then returned to find your post!

I'm yet to venture outside of what Yamaha has to offer, however these two seem to be darn good contenders if I can find them for a tad cheaper.

The main thing I'm reading between the two is the difference in HDMI/SVid and the slight power difference between. Anything else I'm missing? Anything similar from Onkyo (706..) or Denon I should check out? It also seems that the Yamaha v765 is a better contender against the 706.
