Did you read my post? I renamed the AVCHD MTS files from my camcorder, and they did play from a thumb drive.

Awesome, thank you.

The only thing I can say about it is that we watched UP tonight and it skipped a few minutes at one point (we went back and it did the same thing at the same point), then we updated the firmware and it played fine. Don't know what else it fixed though.

I found answer, no thanks to Gizmodvd. A simple "it was covered earlier" would have been sufficient.

picked this up last night...at my BB store it rang up at $150...but its on sale for $99
post #397 of 1008
i just picked up the wsbrdvd from bb yesterday so far im quite impressed, the netflix feature is better than it was on my samsung bs1600
post #398 of 1008
Hooked up the wireless version, took awhile to get my wep wireless going, forgot a digit....Doh!, well it was a open box return and the only one left, the box said $149...no wonder nobody touched it, my wife called me and she said it was a open box and had to tell them it's onsale for $129, well, i said if it's a open box should get some more off, got another 10%

Before i updated i could not get Xvid to play on disc or usb, it had the previous firmware, like the BRDVD3 that firmware disabled .Avi playback, well after update they both work well, very pleased with .mkv playback also

This player does everthing i wanted it to do and netflix streaming is very good.

If it only could recognize my network files it would be the ultimate!!

Only peeve is the rear usb, i'll have to get a extension.

Good. Glad to see you actually decided to read the thread for a few minutes. When I walk in Best Buy I don't go "where is abc movie?" I actually attempt to find it...myself.

Bud-man, glad to see that you're well enough to play with your new toy, sounds like a good deal. Now don't over do it with the turkey.

What is your ISP speed?
Just curious to see if it's less than 3mb or greater since you are playing Netflix HD.

gizmodvd-I guess you're just rude. 400+ posts is more than a few minutes.

See the Search link at the top of the page?
You can add any of these fine things to it:
avi, mkv, divx
and get your answer.

Man, I got to give props to GizmoDvD.

It was he who saved and made available the previous firmware that I am using right now.

I don't think he was rude, as just being Captian Obvious to you, erick.

Anyway,Gizmo, thanks for being on this forum and helping people.

No problem, I'm not a computer guy. Just asked for a little help-that's all. No worries. Happy Thanksgiving to our American cousins!

This player now seems to be $199 at BB. What gives? Raise the price >50% for Black Friday? That's a new one.

The wireless version went back up to $199(regular price).
The non-wireless is $99 starting tomorrow.

When I have checked the speed, it has come in at about 2.5 mps. Nothing special.
Wireless version is still $129 and Non-wireless is $99.
They had plenty in stock at my location(Southcenter/Tukwila, WA)

Ill need to rebuy 2 Wired ones today for the free BDs and return them with my old receipt.

Best Buy is now charging $199 for the wireless version. This player isn't worth that much. Better to go with the LG 390 for a bit more. Apparently the $129 sale was this past Wednesday only.
I thought I'd share some more information in the ongoing question of "What is this a clone of"

I checked out my friend's new Momitsu 799, and the menu and display graphics are all identical (save for the different company logos in the background). The setup menu looked and read the same, with the same wording on display options like "16x9 pillar box." The play/pause menu was identical as well.

Now, the 799 is considerably smaller than the Momitsu, so I wonder how it might compare to the 899. However, neither model's region remote codes worked for me, and the Momitsu remote looks nothing like the Insignia/Samsung. (It doesn't do Netflix either.)

Anyone make anything of this? Do a lot of companies share graphical elements in their firmware?

I guess YMMV on the $129 price. Mine had a stack with about 20 of these next to the HDTV's on the wall with the $129 price. The $99 players were on the other end of the isle adjacent to the $129 players.
They had about a pallet of the $99 players at 12pm when I went there(BBY) for the 2nd time. Everyone seems to be eatting up the name brand blu-ray players.

Is the only difference between the wired (BRDVD3) and the wireless (WBRDVD) the wifi capabilities (or lack thereof)? Do they have the same .avi/.mpg/.wmv reading abilities?

Only difference is the wireless ability, however you may need to use the firmware posted by GizmoDVD for .avi playback on the non-wireless model.
