Best Surround Sound Demo DVD

Hello,

I am going to be presenting at an upcoming trade show and am looking for suggestions for an excellent surround sound - high definition video.

I will have a 5.1 on a samsung LED. In the past I've used animated scenes from pixar such as Ice Age and the famous Planet Earth series.

I'm looking for any suggestions for perfect scenes where the audio and video move in perfect compliment to each other.

Any help will be appreciated. Hopefully this is the right forum for this question!

I think the opening battle scene between the two ships in "Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World" would be good.

I agree with bluesky636 that the opening battle scene in the M&C is excellent audio demo material, however the PQ is only so-so since it was filmed to looked like the battle was in the fog.

You may want to consider the first chase scene in Casino Royale, it has stunning PQ and rocking AQ and is about 5-10 minutes long. Excellent demo material.

If you want to consider another type of option, look at The Police: Certifiable; outstanding PQ & AQ. I just watched this BD a few days ago and loss what little was left of my hearing

That's what makes the PQ so terriffic! Would you have rathered it look like it was shot on a bright sunny day? It would not have had the same impact.

I think we generally agree, the film looks like it is suppose to. However, for PQ demos, I think it would be easier to get the attention of most folks at a trade show with a bright picture that is full of color. (However, those canon shots do kick you in the pants

!)

Thanks for the replies....

I am familiar with the Casino Royal chase scene. It is very nice.

I think for the trade show though I am looking for something that will cater to all audiences. I'm thinking something animated (bright and crystal clear) that will really show the sound moving around as the video changes. The opening scene in Ice Age captures this well but I am tired of using it.

Any animation recommendations? I have heard of a Siberian Orchestra DVD that highlights the 5.1 and video effects. Looking for some insight.

Cars is a great another animated movie that is very good. Others including; Batman, The Dark Night (unless the violence is too much for your audience), the same for Band of Brothers. Twister is fun with the wind (and cows) flying around. Pearl Harbor (the version with Ben Affleck) is also very good for both PQ & AQ, and even though it is a war movie, it is not real graphic. U-571 also has some good demo stuff.

BTW - - You keep writing "DVD," I assume that you are really looking for Blu-ray disks; correct?
