I've always thought Manny's delivery was part of his personality quirks - mainly having the mind of an adult trapped in the body of a chubby 12 yr old. Actually , many of his on-screen conversations w/ Ed O'Neill have been pretty funny, IMO. But the big laughs tend to come from other characters.

I haven't been that impressed with this season but I though this week was by far the funniest. The inter-racial, lesbian couple with African-American baby, Gloria surprising Jay and Manny in the garage, soap phone and some great one liners ("I could throw a dodgeball through plywood").

Yep, one of the best episodes of the series.

I can't believe they worked in a reference to Harrison Ford's movie Witness, and those stupid electric heater fireplaces! I thought that was hilarious. You've seen in ads in newspapers and magazines.

I just liked the visual of Luke face down in his cereal, keeping both hands free to play his video game.

I just saw one yesterday, and it said you only had 48 hours to get one.

Best one of the season by far. When Cam started his Cherokee speech I lost it. Couldn't stop laughing.

My wife and I had a solid minute of laughing a couple of episodes ago when Mitchell grabbed the tacky frog during his "made up mad fit" and threw it on the floor - that was so funny on multiple levels.

When the show is hitting on all cylinders, this is typical - something funny on the surface, funny again knowing the character(s), then funny in the context of the episode / plot. Brilliant writing (and acting).

Hey, did anybody else catch the cast on Larry King Live the other night?

They were all there except for "Jay's" oldest daughter, who was ill. They said that the Halloween episode, coming this Wednesday, was really good and that they had a blast shooting it.

Yeah they had the adults on for the first 20-25 minutes and then they came back from commercial and all the kids had joined except Phil's oldest daughter they said she was ill.

So I sat down tonight to watch this week that I recorded and found thirty minutes of local weather alert coverage.

Not very heavy weather by NC standards either. Pathetic.

I didn't get any real laughs out of tonight's episode.

Same here. After the way they went on about this episode on Larry King Live, it ended up being a letdown.

Just kidding, of course, but I found the episode to be very funny. Gloria's fake American accent cracks me up even now, and Mitchell in the Spider Man outfit, climbing out the windown and crawling down the drain-pipe; come on, it's gold, Jerry, gold!

I forgot about the window climb, yeah that gave me a laugh. All together though, I expected the Halloween one to be much better, and it fell flat.

I thought it was good. And I've yet to see an episode where Ty Burrell's "Phil" doesn't give me a good laugh. Makes it feel odd to recall him as a Delta Operator in Black Hawk Down. From trained killer to nerd-burger...ha.

Glad I didn't see that, I would of REALLY been disappointed.

Huh?? I was on the floor with this episode. From Haley's costumes changes to Mitchell's Spiderman to Cam's Halloween story, I don't recall another episode that had so many running gags -- all of them working.

"Tandoori turkey" -- LMAO.

Is it wrong for me to think that Haley is hot?
