I really did not like the season finale. I jut didn't think the whole mexican soap opera setup in the hospital was funny at all.

they just need more scenes of her running in those low cut tops.

The previous week's episode had a classic line from Alex about her gym teacher who didn't like her:

"She's a gym teacher. She is to teaching what Dr. Seuss is to medicine". Hysterical. Claire's response about "And to think she doesn't like you" was a great follow up.

I think Alex has turned into a funnier character then Haley. They have made haley so one dimensional, but Alex they are expanding her a little bit as she gets older and can handle more as an actress.

Agreed, I didn't really start watching this program until the second season but it keeps getting better and better. Many characters that are top rate

Funniest moment in the show. I'm with Jaime. Not good. A BABY!!! Have we just had a Fonzie on his bike sighting?

I'm going to have to bail on this show, it's not as funny as it once was. The episode where Phil had Alex and Haley doing chores is was it's peak to me.

From the get go IMHO, this show has been very hit and miss.

Didn't find the final episode funny at all, the whole hospital scene was so lame. Overall pretty bad.

Why do they need to introduce another character into the show? As is it's a 30 minute show with 11 main characters. 11!!!! Find me another 30 minute sitcom on tv now with a cast that big.

I guess I'm in the minority but I really enjoyed the season finale. I have to say Alex is growing into a very beautiful young woman as well

We rarely watch anymore because two other shows usually take up that DVR time, but we will try to catch it whenever we can.

That said, I actually liked this episode and I thought the whole soap opera thing was funny. It was showing just how bad and ludicrous the acting and storylines are on those things, so to me that's what made it funny.

Well...it will be via Netflix...but Arrested Development returns for its 4th season in 2013. Between the Bluths & the other regulars...not a small cast, either.

Would the Jay/Gloria baby be the "new character"? It'll be a baby, which means until the kid is old enough to walk & talk, it'll be little more than a prop/plot device.

Kids...it's just a sitcom. I for one can hold off judgement until after I have seen the new season as to whether the show is jumping the shark by way of Gloria's uterus.

I too liked the finale.

Well based on what they did with Lilly they will have some odd time warp in season 5 and Gloria's kid will be ready for Kindergarden.

I'm not saying it jumped the shark, but I just didn't like that particular episode.

I'm surprised more people didn't catch onto this--you've got Cam and Mitch who just had their hearts broken by losing out on a latino baby, and vowed to stop looking because they can't bear to go through it again. You've got Jay, who after the whole dance recital with Lily, says to Manny "I'm too old for this, kid." And then you've got Gloria pregnant with--hey, what do you know--a (partially) latino baby. The rest pretty much writes itself. Jay will say no way to raising another baby and Cam and Mitch will agree to adopt him/her since it's a relative (by marriage) and they know she won't back out.

And FYI, the overacting Mexican hospital scene was well done. The non-funny overacting was perfect. Just watch a couple days of Univision if you don't get it.

No I got it. the dialgoue that Gloria/Cam/Mitchell had in the car getting to the hospital talking about Fire and Ice was funnier then what they did in the hospital.

And I agree with pianoman Cam and Mitchell will end up with Gloria's kid.

Not even in a sitcom will that work. Grandpa/Daddy? Mommy/Grandma?? Mommy/Brother??? That kid would be screwed from day one. Jay may not like it, but he's got another kid.

Thinking Jay and Gloria would give up their baby to Cam and Mitchell is a stunning display of not understanding this show at all, IMO.

The only surprise is that Gloria and Jay haven't addressed the "camera" on this issue before now. Gloria identifies as a mother, and it would be hard to believe that the question of children wasn't addressed between her and Jay before they married. I'm sure we'll learn what happened in that discussion in the first episode next season. But the look on Gloria's face makes it 100% clear that she wants this, that's she's thrilled, and that were Jay to balk, he would find himself on the sidewalk.

I'm also sure Manny would be happy to pitch in on the parenting.

However, this new baby will be related to every other character in all sorts of interesting and complicated ways, and this is one case where I think a new baby on a show is full of comedic potential. It will be some characters' half-sibling; other characters' half-aunt or uncle; sibling-in-law to Phil and Cam... truly the perfect way to complicate (yet realistically!) the idea of a "modern family."

I think this is the most consistently funny show on TV, and that it hasn't lost a step.

Ditto. The kids on this show are hilarious. By far, this is still my favorite comedy.

I don't think Gloria will just "give" the baby to Cam and Mitch... didn't her offer to be a surrogate before and they said no? and even if Jay is "too old for this" he'll take the baby...

From the HOTP thread, all of the main adult actors are suing over their contracts now. ALL of them. Going to get messy.

Well, that's certainly a bummer.

Nothing new about a cast doing whatever it takes to get more money. They will get a raise, no doubt about it.

The cast has great actors and actresses, but why go to all this trouble to get more money? they didn't strike me as greedy.. oh well..

Didn't they read the contract when they signed it?
