Actually, in that commercial, she still looked normal. It's only been recently (end of last season into the beginning of this one) that her eyebrows seemed to be growing exponentially.

Loved the Godfather ending in last night's episode! Definitely one of the funniest moments on the show to date biggrin.gif

The Godfather ending was, indeed, brilliant.  Especially Ty Burrell who love in this show.  I know that many of the specific references were lost on some (I have friends who simply didn't get all of it) but for those who recognized it, the integration of the scenes was simply wonderful.  On the comparison note, I agree that the photos are unfair.  Bowen in a very recent, reality photo coming out of the surf and Vegara from her youth in Colombia (not Columbia) in an obviously posed photo are not relevant.

Bowen has a beautiful face, but there's a reason she nearly always wears long sleeves now and that's because she has the body of Iggy Pop.

Iggy Pop with breasts, but yeah....

Gonna assume Vergara, fresh from a similar dip in the ocean like the Bowen pic from earlier, looks more Jessica Rabbit & less Iggy Pop every time.

Bowen is pretty and a solid comic & dramatic actor, but the girl need some meat on those bones.

Bowen had meat on her bones in Happy Gilmore and Boston Legal, plus she was younger, looked great.

Go back before that - when she was in "Ed." Yum...

It's an opinion, there's no right or wrong, contrary to what some people think. rolleyes.gif

I shall never forget the sweet, sweet Carol Vessey.

I spent the weekend out of town at my daughter and son in law's house. I had never watched Modern Family but, at my daughter's insistence, watched the latest episode, which was recorded on her TiVo. I loved it! As other posters have already noted, the Godfather I parody at the end of the episode was inspired. The sendup of the Godfather sequence in which Michael Corleone is shown in a church serving as godfather while his sister's child is being christened, while Michael's henchmen are systematically killing his Mafia rivals, was smart and finny. The twist on the horse's-head-in-the-bed scene was the icing on the cake. This week's Modern Comedy was an example of comedy writing at its best.

It's probably our families favorite 1/2 hr comedy, that and P&R are always watched first on the DVR.

I have never been much of a sitcom fan, so usually wait until my daughter convinces me to watch something I haven't seen before I start watching a new one. I recently got into Parks & Recreation on my daughters recommendation and have been enjoying it hugely.

A recent Raising Hope did a spoof on MF. Down to the font.

Enthusiasm doesn't always equal talent.

Didn't find to much to laugh at during this except the end part when they were listening to the song and crying, that was pretty good.

How could you not love Nathan Lane's hilarious one-liners?  "My son's in Afghanistan....oh God I might as well give them a map!",  "He's in Kabul...I'm a sieve!".   Cracked me up.

What's happening to "Modern Family?"

Earlier this season, the acclaimed ABC series was the highest-rated comedy on TV. But CBS' Thursday king "The Big Bang Theory" has since climbed to top the weekly chart hitting recent season highs, and Modern Family has slipped to No. 2 and relinquished its crown. Last night's episode marks a season low for the show, down 10 percent to 10.1 million viewers and a 3.8 adults 18-49 rating.

What's behind the slippage?

Well, its ABC neighbors sure don't help much (or rather, its "Neighbors"). And "Modern Family" now has to contend with Fox's "American Idol," which has likely had an impact the past few weeks (one analyst noted that Modern Family tends to hit its low point around this time of year). Of course, "Big Bang" airs at 8 p.m. so it doesn't even have a lead-in, also faces "Idol," plus is an older show.

Perhaps it's that "Modern Family" is rather ambitious and creatively complex with a large cast that seeks to work as a comedy with tinges of deeply heartfelt drama — pulling all that off week after week is huge juggling act.

The rest of ABC's lineup had mixed results. "The Middle" was down 8 percent. "The Neighbors" was up 13 percent and "Suburgatory" went up 17 percent (thanks to Modern Family not running a repeat this week).

On CBS, "Criminal Minds" tied its series low; "CSI" dropped 8 percent despite airing its well-promoted "CSI: NY" cross-over episode. Fox's "Idol" led the night yet fell 16 percent for the start of Hollywood Rounds. NBC was largely down about 10 percent except "Guys With Kids" which fluxed up a tenth. On The CW, "Arrow" rose a notch and "Supernatural" was flat.

Any reason why this show is not available on-demand?

The same reason CBS's "Person of Interest" is not available. The networks hold back some of their programs. Why do the networks do this? Dunno...

Someone on an NPR podcast I was listening to recently brought up the point that, if you are a movie studio and are flogging your latest date-night foddler, having someone watch something On Demand days later does you no good if you miss the critical first weekend. It seems most On Demand stuff has its own commercial set, but not always.

Plus, it seems to be a point of pride with ABC that Modern Family is at the top of the ratings. On Demand could jeopardize this. And they probably don't offer it to On Demand because they don't need to.

And what ever studio/company that actually produced the show may not have included streaming rights to what ever network they sold the show to.

For example, 20th Century Fox Television produces Modern Family and probably retained the streaming and/or on-demand rights for themselves to do with how they see fit. Person of Interest is a Warner Bros creation and they may have decided not to allow CBS to have a streaming option in the deal. Happens all the time.

And studios surely have various reasons to provide streaming/on demand options to a network or not. WHile WB does not allow for CBS to offer Person of Interest, other WB shows can be/have been available before. Being that MF is ABC's tentpole comedy & a big draw for advertisers, it may simply be part of the contract btwn net & studio in this case.

Last year, I recall Comcast having MF available On Demand - interestingly, what they offered was the local broadcast of the show (even our local ABC affiliate "bug" on the screen) for a short time via OnDemand. That seems to have ended some time ago.

Modern Family is on Hulu, Amazon Instant, etc including the latest episode.

Wow. I had to go back a ways to find this thread. I had been getting bored w/ this show. The spark seemed to be gone this season.

However, I just watched last week's episode, and thought it was brilliant. The writing was exceptional, and the cast seemed to be inspired by it to really shine.

I have to say the show has become hit or miss for me. One week will be great and the next I will struggle to laugh.

I wonder if this show is suffering the fate of many others before it by bringing in a new baby (or some may argue aging Lily). The classic "jumping the shark" moment by messing with what was working perfectly before.

I don't think it's as funny as it used to be but I still really enjoy the Phil/Luke and Jay/Manny dynamic.

Scenes with Lily I don't find particularly funny but I did like the restaurant continuous faux pas this week.
