Fortunately shows look big enough on these bigger screens even if they are not stretched to fill every pixel of the TV.
Just to clarify in case there was any confusion, the neutral I was speaking of is the neutral in the temperature setting. I think the settings include cool, neutral, warm 1 and warm2. Cool should definitely chill the red out of the picture. In the white balance settings, the cnet tweaks are really very subtle. I’m not sure default would really be much different. I just started with what they said and left it since I was happy. I think the temperature and backlight settings really do most if not all of the work that is needed to tweak the picture for most applications. Then maybe turning up or down the amount of color should do anything that is still not just perfect.
Yes full seems to be what people mean, and yes any stretching is horrible, to me. There are a couple of SD channels I still watch and sometimes they do this letterbox thing and the piture is stretched all to hell, almost unwatchable, but can bare with it for an hour for the broadcast. I could go with 4:3 when they do that but then you end up with a box on the screen about 2/3 the size of screen, just as bad.
Thanks, yes I understood neutral to be the temp setting. I am actually playing with that now and trying to decide which looks best. Cool might work, but neutral looks pretty good. Still playing with it, but almost there, and probably what I'm going to end up with are the cnet settings with the exception of backlight and temp on neutral.
And I guess I'm totally lame because I cannot find either of these two menus:
--- Screen menu I have found the wide menu using the wide button but
Wide Mode: Full
Auto Wide: Off
4:3 Default: Off [grayed out]
Auto Display Area: Off [i]Where is this?[/
Display Area: Full Pixel [i] And this?[/
Screen Position: [grayed out] [i] And this?[/
Vertical Size: 0 [grayed out] And this?
All I get from the above is can go up/down and select wide/stretch etc. I have none of the greyed out stuff you see, nor the display area, screen position or vertical size.
--Preferences, Eco menu [i]And have no idea where these settings are!?!?[/
Power Saving: Off
Light Senor: Off
