Heroes Season 4 Episode 1 is already up.

I didn't know this was coming

All of season 3 was on Netflix in HD the day after each episode aired. This is nothing new.

Netwflix streaming is indeed awesome. I cannot wait for the future where I can stream anything I want whenver I want.

You have content, I have money and we both have high speed internet. A match made in heaven content providers!

Oh yeah, streaming Netflix truly is great. I don't subscribe to any sort of broadcast television, nor do I even have an antenna set up. Streaming Netflix has set me up with enough content that I don't even bother torrenting shows anymore. Hell, I don't even use the DVD half of my Netflix 2-disc subscription any more. And yes, I have two 360s that we sometimes have stuff streaming to simultaneously, so we need a 2-disc plan.

They do this for a few shows. I used it for Harper's Island when it was on.

Eventually they might be another Hulu if they expand the "day after" offerings.

How do you do this? You need a gold membership to use Netflix on an Xbox360. I thought you can't use the same account online on two different boxes at the same time? This would break the DRM for XBL. I was thinking of getting another Xbox 360 to do this, but needing two gold memberships plus two Netflix accounts have held me back. So I was going to get the Roku box instead.

EDIT: While I do get broadcast HDTV, I like getting new shows off of Netflix too. Although it's not as nice looking as broadcast HD, you don't get those horrible bottom ad graphics either.

^ You don't need two Netlix accounts. Each account can have up to (I think) 4 devices registered to it. You are just limited to how much you can stream simultaneously, which is tied to your disc plan (i.e. a 2 disc plan allows you to stream to 2 devices at the same time, but a 3 disc plan would let you stream to 3 devices at the same time). So you could still have the 1 disc plan for like $9/month, with 4 devices on the account. You just wouldn't be able to use more than one device at a time.

I'm not sure how the gold subscriptions work...I guess you would need two (one for each box)? Personally I just have my one 360, and then am probably getting a Roku for upstairs since I don't play games up there.

Ya, I already know all about that for Netflix. I have a 3 disc account and watch it on multiple pcs and my Xbox 360. But isn't the Netflix account tied into your XBL Gold account? If you can tie it into multiple gold memberships, I can see this. But you would still need another gold membership to stream to two Xbox 360's at the same time, right?

(edit)...Oops...I read your post wrong about watching two streams at the same time......my post below makes no sense now.

No, the Netflix account does not tie in to your gamertag, account, whatever. You authorize a "device" (360, PC, Roku, etc..) to use your Netflix account. You have to have an Xbox Gold account to use Netflix on a 360....but Netflix doesn't care what account is using it....just that an authorized device is.

You can have six devices authorized for one Netflix account.....it could be six different gold accounts on six different 360s or one gold account and six different 360s or any combination.

It's not the account that matters to Netflix, it's the device being authorized to use the streaming service.

(I have two 360's, each with their own gold account and have my single Netflix account plays on both. I had to authorize each device to my Netflix account but that was it).

No, it's just a code your XBOX gives you (after installing the NF app) that you put in to activate the box at Netflix's site. Has nothing to do with your XBL account.

Ya, but darklordjames did say they he sometimes streams to both Xbox 360's at the same time. That's why I asked about this.

I haven't tried different shows at the same time but I did create a "Netflix Party" between my 2 accounts/360's and was streaming the movie to both consoles (wanted to test out Party Mode when I was in the preview but none of my friends were...and both of my XBL accounts were accepted into the preview). I have the $8.99 1 DVD + streaming account with Netflix.

Understood. I was trying to answer this part:

You only need one Netflix account.

I believe you would need 2 Gold Accounts (if you want to stream to 2 XBOX's simultaneously). Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm about 99% sure that would be the case. I personally think a Roku would be better for the second location, assuming you only want Netflix in the second location and don't really care about the gaming/streaming aspect a second 360 would have.

I'm just throwing this out there as well, but for $40 you could get PlayOn (themediamall.com) and stream Netflix WITHOUT a gold account to the second XBOX (you don't even have to register the device at Netflix). You just lose some of the ability that the native player has....like Rewind and FF and you can't stream HD titles and even the SD stuff doesn't look quite as good (but still acceptable). But it does work fine just for streaming and doesn't require a Gold Account to use (you just access it through the regular "Video" blade like any media server). I used it to watch Netflix for awhile before the NXE with the native player came out.

PlayOn has a free trial if you wanted to try it out and is worth it if it's just a "secondary" location that you don't use much or care about the reduced functionality/controls, or maybe no HDTV or just don't want to pay for a Gold Account. It will definitely let you watch Netflix simultaneously using the native player on one XBOX (with the Gold Account) and with PlayOn player on the other XBOX (without the Gold Account)

I actually still use it nearly-daily to stream stuff from Hulu and other content providers (Youtube, CBS.com, Adult Swim, South Park Studios, etc). Hulu actually looks really good on it...just watched Fringe this morning since it didn't record due to conflicts last night. Doesn't even have the "Hulu" watermark like the PC player has.

I can't have one gamertag logged in simultaneously on two 360's can I? One playing a game, one streaming Netflix etc?

Nope. Thats why I bought a Roku for the second stream on our account. Though at this point I would get one of the several $200 or the under $200 BR players that plays Netflix as well. The Roku was $130 shipped.

OK, thanks for that. I was under the impression that Netflix could only be tied to one Gold account. That answers my question.

The only weakness I see with Play On is that you need to have your pc on. If I need to have the pc on, I may as well have that pc connected to my tv and save $40.

Well the Roku has wireless internet, I don't think those Blu-Ray players do. And for a SDTV, the Roku is the more practical solution (cheaper and playing Blu-Rays on a SDTV doesn't make any sense). For a HDTV the Blu-Ray player solution makes perfect sense.

Yeah, it's basically a media server (to stream content from your PC) with the added bonus of streaming Netflix, Hulu and some other content providers. I use it primarily for Hulu and IMO is well worth the money just for that.

Of course, by hooking your PC up to your TV, it defeats the purpose of a having a media server that can stream to your entire household.

I was just pointing it out as an option to stream Netflix to a second XBOX (simultaneously) without the need for a second Gold account.

Yes indeed the Roku has wireless, and we use it actually in the daughters room. But I have found that the wireless is meh. Ex: My daughter has a 360connected to a wireless bridge I bought at newegg. She uses it to stream 2 channel 720P content from the DNLA server. She never has any issues streaming this HD content. Her Roku however does not always get a good enough signal for HD over its wireless connection.

They are both connecting to the same router and the HD content from Netwlix is certainly not as high bitrate as the content the 360 is streaming from its wireless bridge.

The Roku never had any issues when it was hard wired in the HT. So the Roku is great, but if you want to use it for any HD I would certainly wire it. And if I was going to wire it... again I would just get a BR player at this point. (They were over $120 more when I bought the Roku)

"How do you do this? You need a gold membership to use Netflix on an Xbox360."

We have Gold on my account and on my girl's account. She saw $50 a year for Gold worth it purely for Netflix in the bedroom. Anything else Gold does is just a bonus for her. And yes, you only need one Netflix account, but it must allow as many discs s devices you want to *simultaneously* stream to.

"How do you watch football man!!"

I don't. Anything news related that I need to know about live is easily found on the interwebs, and on my schedule. I don't follow any sports, negating the need for live broadcast. I am seriously considering following the LFL, but only live in my local arena.

They've got a deal with Showtime where they put up the first episode of the new season of just about all of their shows. The same thing happened with Weeds, The Tudors, and The L Word for their most recent seasons. It's just a promotional thing, though. They don't put up any more episodes from the season. Heroes is the only show I've heard of that has the entire current season available on a day delay schedule.

Ohhh....and here I've been waiting for Season 3 to be available Watch Instantly. Sonofa. I'm a whole season behind.

They did it with Harper's Island as well. I was pretty sure there were a couple others, but nothing I can name now.
