Hey all,

Got approval from the spousal unit to purchase a couple of games to "show off the home theater" (or at least that's my excuse to get the games )...

Looking at the following:

Batman: AA
NHL '10
Deadspace
Fight Night R4

What would you recommend?

Thanks!

Wait for Uncharted 2. Best looking game this gen.

From your list:

'Batman: AA' & 'Dead Space'

Also look for 'Flower' on PSN

Without question Dead Space........best sounding game I have ever played and it looks VERY nice as well. If you have a good sound system, this is a great show off disc IMO.

Some good discussion on this topic in this thread...

With Uncharted 2 coming out next month, that would be an absolute no-brainer. It's going to have the best graphics and some of the best action/adventure/music/voice acting/awesomeness you could ever dream of in a video game. I've been playing the online beta and it's the beez neez.

From your list:

Batman: AA and Dead Space. Both games have stunning atmosphere.

As others have mentioned Uncharted 2 looks spectacular and I would also recommend Killzone 2 and GT 5: Prologue as some good back catalog showcase material.

In addition to your list and suggestions for Uncharted 2 (OMG OMG OMG), Prince of Persia's art direction is really quite stunning, IMO. You can find it on the cheap now too.

Thanks for all the replies folks!

I guess from everyone's responses I should try and finally dust off Uncharted 1 and finish it off soon. I just found out I'm "Batching" it tonight too.. So I'll probably stop on the way home to pick up the other games and then veg out.

DEADSPACE!

It's a must have, and is also a great title to show off your audio system as well as the picture. The wifey might even get into it, being a horror title as well.

Then grab Batman, which is a solid looking game and great to play.

As above, also throw in Uncharted2 in a few weeks, that'll take the crown for best looking and sounding game this Gen, and it's going to be fun as hell to play.

I'll echo Batman, and Deadspace

Fight night is really good for people that aren't really into games ,and just want to pick something up and fight with a couple of guys for an hour or so.

Fight Night has some VERY good audio. Takes advantage of your rear speakers very well. I'd definitely look into picking that up to show off your audio gear and the visuals are pretty good also.

There should be demos of all these games so you can get a taste of what they'll look like and play like. Try'em out.

Dead Space is my #1 demo recommendation of all time personally.

Batman is great also.

I suppose it would be a silly move to inform your wife ...I'm just assuming you're the guy in the relationsship if you're asking for permission to buy video games... you can download the "demo" version of most every game for free?

Anyway, I'd also put my hat in for Uncharted 2.

Great soundtrack too! If you aren't interested in owning PoP, definitely rent it sometime for a nice break from shooters. It's a thoroughly enjoyable gaming experience.

But yeah, U2, of course.

Deadspace was a very good game from beginning to end. I like horror movies and games but I don't scare easy, maybe one or two instances where I was like 'oh $#^&!' (remember the first time the long arm-claw-thing grabbed ur leg and pulled you?) For best results, play at night, turn off all lights and turn up the volume :]

Killzone 2, Dirt 2, GRID, motorstorm pacific rift, batman, deadspace, red faction guerilla, Assassins Creed (gorgeous game).. a lot of great ones to choose from

Deadspace. No HUD gives it a cinematic feel. It's more like you're in a movie than playing a game.

I also like RFOM and RFOM 2 -- the second one being the best of those two.

Bioshock is an awesome game but visually it comes nowhere close to Dead Space.

Batman
Uncharted 1
Killzone 2

Instead of something with a dark, drab look, I would get Mirror's Edge. It can be had for $20 or less now. And, of course get Uncharted 2 when it comes out.

It's only $20-30 now. Definitely a no brainer purchase IMO.

So I picked up Deadspace and Batman: AA. Wow! I haven't had such a good videogame weekend in... Well, for at least 5 years or so. Both games are flipping awesome. I got sucked into to Batman a bit more than Deadspace, but I fully plan on beating both.

At one point my Wife walked into the theater while I was playing Batman and thought I was watching a movie

I still have a few weekends to "practice" before the party that we're having.

Thanks again for all the inputs and the great suggestions everyone!
